  1. That is a very nice Dragonfly Chris, All the Aerotech kits had foam veneer wings with no washout. The Mosquito kit I have has a pair of outer panels with washout, these were cut for me by a friend to replace the original panels. I must make an effort to build it before I get to old. If you have the facility to cut your own wings why not make a pair with washout and as veneer is not so readily available sheet them with balsa.
  2. I had some good flying today with my FW190 and Corsair, all dolly take offs and i will endorse your comments on the 190. It is a winner,
  3. Hi Chris, washout is built into the wing on the building board, it is virtually a twist in the wing. I haven't tried it as I was told many years ago putting both ailerons up would not have the same effect as washout.
  4. On recollection I flew from a ww2 airfield with the Aerotech P38 and Stuka, and always brought them in fairly quickly as they were prone to tip stalls,
  5. Yes I will build it if I live long enough, I like to experiment with alternative options but I do build in a traditional way also . This Bristol Bulldog was built from a plan, a labour of love at the time as there was no precut parts. Sarik have now produced a laser cut set for it very tempted but the exhaust system was a pita and I don't do 3d printing.
  6. I think it is a lot of money, but I live in the past, when they were going down they sold everything off cheap, the single engine profile models models were £15 and the twins were £19. I bought a profile Mosquito, the fuselage and nacelles were veneered 1" thick foam the wings were semi semi symmetrical section and the tail feathers balsa. I fattened it up and it flew well once I changed the 600 brushed motors for Axi 2028/ 10s I believe it was 60" span. I also built the Stuka from the Aerotech kit it had an OS 40 2 stroke again no complaints with the flying.
  7. Hi Chris, The P38 was 72"span, I still have a Mosquito kit to start, that is 71"span.
  8. The Aerotech Wellington, 86" span
  9. Hi Chris, I believe they appeared in the late 1980's , I bought the P38 Lightning from thier stand at a show. On opening the kit at home it had two port wing panels. After many phone calls 3months later I received the starboard panel at another show. It was not a great kit but once built it flew OK and looked good in the air.I later built the Wellington from their range it flew well till an engine failed..
  10. So was Hitler according to Churchill and look what happened to him.
  11. Yes and Ron said he was piling on the coals in the flight video
  12. Hi Brian, The crash scene is my depron Spitfire, it hit the electric cable at the edge of the field. It flew again just over a week later. This is the post crash photo
  13. Hi Graham, The problem with the Hurricane is mainly the sheeting on the outer wing panel I removed the underside sheeting and took large sections from the top, this has brought the weight down to half of what it was, if I can save some more weight then I will do the same to the rest of the wing as it is undamaged. The flaps and spars are very heavy which is all behind the c of g.
  14. Just as the light nights are close this happens. I've never been happy with this VQ Hurricane it's very heavy 63" span 10.5lb weight originally flew with a 90 fs i converted it to electric. On Saturday after a few nose overs it took off loads of power but way out of trim , got round the first circuit and possibly slowed it up to much as it turned it fell from the sky. If I can loose some weight from the airframe I will rebuild it. I think the sheeting on the wings is oak the outer panel alone weighs a pound .
  15. Flying the Corsair and FW190 Saturday and Sunday, great flying days for the time of year
  16. Hi Ron, As we fiy from grass which is not cut till March, sometimes later if there has been a lot of rain. I made my dolly with 2, 4" wheels at the front and one 2" at the rear to reduce friction, each wheel is independent so no axles to drag in the grass. Up to now it is close on 60 launches with the FW190 and Corsair and no fails , I hope I haven't jinxed it as I'm off flying as soon as the mist clears.
  17. I can guarantee they are good gliders Dave.
  18. Hi Chris, The FW190 will roll along as long as I don't give up elevator, when it reaches the end of the strip I give a touch of up and it lifts off the dolly then rolls off the strip leaving it clear for landing. I do this when I fly alone. The Corsair is lifting off the dolly in a few feet on it's own even on low throttle, I need more practice on take off it is well overpowered.
  19. Hi Chris, It is the same dolly with outriggers to support the Corsair wing at the bend. In its modified form the FW190 still flys off it without any adjustments, I had a good days flying on Friday with both models. The wing on mine fits right up to the uprights , the reason they are in that position is to hold the fuselage central, they are just friction held on with a screw and will give in order to lessen damage if it went to one side. The hair curlers as I said before were to stop the protruding undercarriage wire damaging the wing, I did glue foam pads on but the elapore foam did not stick very well, the curlers however have remained on for over 40 take offs. I am using a Racestar 4250 800kv motor with a 12x6 Apc electric prop a 4s 3600 battery and no ballast The mod. for the Corsair is of no benefit to the FW190, I added the extra support in a way that it could be removed if necessary if the FW190 would not take off from it.
  20. Hi toto, have you tried one of the esc's that is not working in another model or set up. Just an outside chance it may work in another setting. I had one that I thought was u/s as it cut out on the model. I tried it in another and it was OK. Never found out why, thought it may have overloaded then cooled down it was a few days later when I tried it as I was about to bin it.
  21. Cowls and canopies made from 7 Tesco 2ltr lemonade bottles 25p each , the rest mainly depron and foamboard.
