Insulate as much as you can, external foam panels if there are no restrictions on your property and K render. internally you could use foil back foam panels with plaster board on all external walls without eating up too much space. Glue 9.5mm plasterboard to 50mm foam (Celatex etc) fix to wall and joint and tape. make your own, way cheaper than buying them. Roof space and voids. Its all in the "have a go" tootle around in a public area sub 250g or "have ago" A cert route hence my suggestion of the FMS 1300mm Piper at aliexpress for around £140-200 RTF or a UMX 400mm BNF at almost the same price plus TX. I personally had one disappear in the wind that suddenly caught it near to the end of a flight, couldnt get it back before it disappeared and I'm not the only one at our site, one guy saw his UMX Mustang suddenly head off in the wind. The 400mm wee things are nice but get blown about if a butterfly flaps its wings. I would go for a ready to fly/ RTF package . One that comes to mind is the FMS 1300m piper. Hot on the heels of the new camo Vampire is the updated Canadian version. Only at the Global warehouse so far and going fast. I've already preordered a camo from UK and have already received a Camo model from Global with freepost. Noticed the Canadian now for sale again and looked to buy spares for my existing model but they attracted a £65 p+p tag from HK. So have ordered a whole Canadian version as well. If interested it would be wise to move quickly.

Havent built anything balsa since I was a kid, balsa cement and wood glue. Im thinking of building a simple kit first and ultimately when flying and building skills improve I have a Gary Hethcoat deluxe kit Horten Ho229 to build. The build is essentially just wings so will need a fairly large board. There are numerous recommendations for board material but wondering what the consensus is.

There is a fair collection of lost planes in there, just last week whilst a member was recovering their baby a long lost T33 was found that the owner thought was a fly-away. Some trackers are claiming 100m range so going to test drive a few in the open.

Aliexpress, for most parts, spare airframes etc etc. Would like to buy locally but its the same stuff so the savings make a little wait worthwhile. If its a project just plan ahead. Never had a poor item, lost damaged or surprise postage ransom or tax bill.

Our club is 99% fixed wing with a few drone/quad chaps. The site, old airfield also has some old rough areas that would be great for the off road car/ jeep/truck gang but there's no interest from established members. My thought was offer a site for them, they tend to be younger, theyll hopefully see the flying side and some may be interested while all the time pulling extra funds in for the club.

Grass was quite shaggy and I hadnt been out to play for a couple of months so bashed a few batteries through an old Max-Thrust Ruckus and a final blast on a Multiplex Sonic liner but managed to drag both motors off in the grass, all sorted in 10mins.

After the hoohah earlier in the year that transpired to be an attempted FB rip off that saw a box of "firewood" rather that a foamie Vampire sitting on my doorstep, I picked up a Canadian for £10 with spare wings. Picked up a spare horizontal from HK Global. Noticed the V3 had appeared a couple of weeks ago and went to HK UK but was only available to pre order for end November, placed an order then checked Global who had some left bought one and it arrived 4 days later, with a small voucher it landed in £30 cheaper than the UK price and no ransom from Fedex. Global and USA all now sold out and wouldn't be surprised if our date slides and they refill the other two warehouses. Its resting until I clear a few jobs, then a splosh of clearcoat.

They can be 3D printed in that "squashy" foam stuff, I think thats the technical term! Guy at my club had some done as he needed quite a narrow tread tyres on a warbird. Guy on ebay puppies123 prints just about anything if you supply him some measurements but dont mess him about.

I ordered a second Vampire from Global, arrived in 4 days with no additional Fedex ransom. Thats under £150 with some bonus I had built up. Quick look over, has a plastic nose cone and fairings around the retracts and a nose gear cover that prevents easy access to the the retract and servo screws. New thrust tube outlet seems to be a 15mm long piece of fizzy drink bottle glued in the pipe, prob 0.5mm thick creating a lip, I guess reducing the outlet size slightly for a little extra velocity. Canopy seems to be a lighter foam, needs more magnets or a canopy latch and the extra room was created by hacking off the bottom of the cockpit with a hot cutter. Pilot has gone AWOL - Lighter! Wings are considerably stiffer. Going to give it a clear coat and put it away for a while while I finish other models. Very pleased as I've only had my used Canadian until now, will probably drop in a 4s Powerfun 12 blade, currently under £30 from Banggood or a Freewing unit
