This is one of the XL4015 regulator modules that I bought a few years ago plus connectors etc (this one is used for 5V). Twiddle the pot until you get the voltage that you want (IIRC, for the glow driver I replaced the pot with a link as 1.25 is its minimum voltage). This is the indicator module.

I used to use a D cell, but these days it is a backup as I prefer a 1.25V regulator.

1) Put a load on it (say 1000 ohm resistor) and see what the voltage is them. 2) Don't use it. Get an XL4015 (search on here) regulator and wind it all the way down. Much less risk of blowing plugs.

There are are two types of membership (see https://bmfa.org/join-us). One lasts for a year, the other until the end of December. In both cases, I would expect you to get a renewal email. If in doubt, logon to https://bmfa.justgo.com/Account.mvc/Login?ReturnUrl=%2f and check.

Impressive bit of spinning. The reality is that we were lucky that Grant Shapps replaced Chris Grayling as Secretary of State for Transport when he did.

You think that an organisation with an article 16 authorisation doesn't know the regs? OK.

FPV UK is £24.99.

Do you have any more details on this? Because my understanding is that a transmitter which is DSM2 capable will only lose that capability if the RF board is changed for a newer one. It probably worth noting that, while Spektrum's support for legacy equipment is better than some, there have been a few issues. My DSX9 happily works with my DSM Marine receivers, my DX9 doesn't. There were problems when some newer Spektrum receivers were used in DSM2 mode that required a fix to the receiver firmware.

If they had put a low power DSM2 option on post 2014 transmitters, there would lots of stories of people crashing models on DSM2 with those transmitters because the average modeller doesn't understand their radio gear (at least most of the one that I fly with don't). One of the layers of the protocol being Cypress doesn't stop the layers above that being Spektrum's.

IIRC, when putting a cap across a switch it should be in series with a small resistor.

The first thing that I would try is a diode in parallel with the relay.
