  1. 13 posts above, 3 pictures, the middle one, flying on reedies... Even 80"s tx"s ( futaba challenger ) had "rates"... The hi boy I had and the shadow were set up to quoted throws, rates set to 50 per cent, flew/fly really well. Shadow rates turned off for "violent" manouvers... Rates on for realistic and more controllable/skilled flying. A non computerised radio set. Pilot inputs rather than electronic on board help.
  2. Hi RM, Perfect info, very much appreciated. I don't do eBay or hobbyking but will be emailing George at 4max later. Thanks again, great info. Also great info on the larger Lidl glider in this thread.
  3. Hi RM, May I ask please, what prop, motor, ESC and battery did you use for this small foamy glider please ? I assume it's r + e + a + t 4 channel and you have used 4 isg gram servos ? Have you posted a "how I made it" thread for this little gem ? Info really appreciated.
  4. Sorry to hear of a hand problem, really hope that goes well for you. Keep practising on your flight sym. The cost of covering is quite a lot these days. I have used rattle cans on silver solar film as well a humbrol enamel to film. On control line models I have used a sanding sealer, humbrol enamel and coloured dope. They, cl models, are very much a different animal It's the weight that needs consideration.....however if the designer designed in a particular covering, that should be ok. The novelty of crashing will soon wear off, you will get much better at "landing" after flight 13.
  5. This is a problem with forums, no body language to see, no voice, emphasis, tone, manner.....no eyes to be seen..... Only words.... Just like printed instructions... Does that company provide any vidioes on making its kits ?
  6. I wonder how we got on before the days of computer based radio gear..... Yes very handy to have lots of bells and whistles etc...but your model is not a eurofighter or similar ?
  7. Hi Greg, the "home brew" glider I made and still use has light span ( was cheap and readily available in them days ) covered wing and the fuz was simply painted with red dope that I had left at the time. One coat was all I had enough red dope for. Appearance of finish doesn't really matter at 400 ft. Skin friction not really a consideration. Diesel powered. fuz and wings are still surviving well and it still flies great. I don't know your model in question. Your model but keep the weight down and balance/trim it well. I presume you have been practising on a flight simulator and now fully understand " prop the dipping wing with the stick " etc.. Your proposed flying site, a hill dropping down to valley floor, the ridge, facing prevailing wind ? Maybe that's for a different thread but it's there and could be exploited ? Enjoy.
  8. Hi Martin, Nice and no doubt possess soaring potential ... Saw your battery info but may I ask please, motor and prop and rating of esc please ? Thanks
  9. Liked the DC sabre ? Air valve idea...
  10. Since Cox 049 has been mentioned, RC "carbs" are available these days along with suitable silencers. Cox 049's can be "diesel ised" and have been for some time now. Like the small Cox powered plane, just about to make a Cox sharkface r, e and t 3 channel. If that goes to plan, an a 4 channel one will follow. Back to diesels, heavenly fuel smell.....exhaust smoke stings your eyes...all good fun.
  11. Lovely... Could you please talk us thru the anodising process please, maybe in a new thread ? Do any other printer ink colours works as well ? Thanks.
  12. Gasser, the name of a model plane I have the plan for... Yes, the name of the actual model...
  13. Yes please Ron, I can take them to the village cutter and see what/how he can use them. Much appreciated, thanks.
  14. Village life is so so different. Upsetting someone in the next village, you have effectively up set about half of the village you live in. The Lazer cutter in the next village has the Lazer cutter along with the equipment to work it i presume. We want to support him. Thanks, so individual parts scanned and cleaned up if needed. Rescanned into the converting software and fed to the Lazer cutting machine. I will make a point of calling into the canolfan and finding out the process and costs involved for him/her to do the cutting. A local resource worth supporting I feel. I wonder if they do 3d printing also...
  15. Thanks both, the Lazer cutter in the village presumably has the skills/knowledge/equipment. Andy, webinar, thanks. Is the last one about flight safety/caa stuff been made available yet please ?
  16. Thanks Kevin. May I ask, does a scanner scan a plan, then at the touch of a button, the laser cutter goes to work, or a scan is taken then a button pressed to produce the code file the Lazer cutter needs ? I suppose all that is still star trek territory ?
  17. I do not have a computer system which is internet capable, working scanner and printer, 3d printer or laser cutter etc.. I found out yesterday laser cutting is available in the next village, blimey. May I ask please, are files available for laser cutting of balsa for plans like the Feb rcme 049ier e and others please ? I have yet to visit the canolfan to talk about laser cutting but imagine they would have the means and kit needed. I will find out. Thanks, rich
  18. Safety says get a new prop. Make a shield or display piece with the ruined prop, even a raffle prize object.
  19. A beautifully 4 cylinder engine, a keeper perhaps as a "work of art". Yes, worth a lot of money no doubt. Post a picture of it so it can be identified, so we can all drwwwwwl All over our keyboards 😀 One man's junk is another man's gold. This forum and members will be very helpfull to you.
  20. Unmistakable Cox engines The rear left one is a beam mounted td09, non RC type with circular exhaust. The RC version would have an RC carb and torpedo type silencer. It is held onto the wood mount by 4 bolts. They have some red as well as black plastic parts. The others are 049 baby bee reed type bulkhead mounted, some with external fuel tanks. There are other cc beam mounted Cox engines. If an engine looks like the ones shown, it is more than likely a Cox engine. Other Cox engines will have COX cast into the crank case and worth a lot. Cox all plastic control line flying models like the PT19 and STUKA ( and others ) will have COX written on them. Check eBay for overpriced cox 049's. Check Dens Model Supplies for prices of new engines and parts. Kiel Kraft also made all plastic control line flying models. Some glow/diesel model engines fetch very high prices. I would be interested in any Cox product, frozen solid engine, broken control line model and any Cox parts. I am not a shop or wheelers dealer and only use eBay for window shopping. Post all engines and engine parts pictures on here for response/advise. Oliver Tiger engines a worth a lot, to name just one manufacturer. Hope this helps you.
  21. Thanks Davey, much appreciated. You have a scanner ?
  22. Cool, was wondering as picture suggests Conrod may be on wrong way. Gudgeon pin may be pressed in ? Anyways good to see stuff being made to bring old engine back to life. Respect.
