  1. Thanks for your advice Malcom and I find your book very helpful indeed.
  2. OH! I have obviously posted this on the wrong thread. Will the mods please correct this for me.
  3. Thank goodness for Malcom Holt and his publication. I'm aware that the following is not to do with possible Futaba aerial problems but to save opening another thread:- I nearly lost a glider once due to the touch sensitive programming feature ('Sensor Touch' of the 14SG. On launch the system was locked but after about half an hour I completely lost control of the aircraft. By absolute sheer luck the plane landed perfectly with no damage. However when I looked at the tx I found that it had entered model programming mode and thus there was no control of the glider. My hand must have brushed the 'Sensor Touch' control and unlocked the tx and then a further touch sent it into program mode. I know of one other user also has had this problem. Apart from masking the control centre I can't think of a way to prevent this happening again. I don't know why that blooming emoticon keeps appearing. I've tried to get rid of it but it won't go away!! Edited By Barrie Dav 2 on 05/08/2015 08:05:35 Edited By Barrie Dav 2 on 05/08/2015 08:07:35
  4. I have and always have the tx aerial at right angles to the to top of the transmitter. My gear, by the way is Futaba 14SG. A pal of mine severely damaged his jet-powered Hawk when on finals. His aerial was parallel to the top of the case and pointing directly at the Hawk. Signal lost to the rx and the motor shut down. His observer called 'Flame-Out. He did not call out loudly enough and my pal, not hearing the call, lowered flaps and u/c - result drag = OH! NO! Too low to recover. Punched the u/c through the wings and the nose wheel ripped out of the fuz. Very expensive.... Wata mistaka to maka. The manual for the 14SG states (page 14 and not in very good English) 'If you have a transmitter at an angle of a figure, an antenna will be good to use it , bending 90 degrees. It is not good for there to be a model on flight in the direction of the tip of the antenna. Edited By Barrie Dav 2 on 04/08/2015 17:40:52
  5. Thank you gentlemen. I'll have a go at some of these ideas. The foam is stated as EPO. Does anyone know what this is, is it Elapor like the Multiplex kits? Bert, the Junior flies really well if it is not too windy. However, the Junior has a pronounced dihedral and the ailerons are no asset and have little effect. Just program these out and make the rudder the directional control on channel 1.
  6. My grandson has one of these and the undercarriage has come adrift (where have I heard that before?). I've tried a couple of adhesives without success but they will not adhere to the foam. Any suggestions please?
  7. If you can replace the blade it seems odd that you can't replace the tyre. I know that one has to slacken-off the tension to replace the blade and this will not apply to the tyre but my point is you should have clear access to the wheel if you can change the blade. If you've bought the replacement tyre specially for your model it should fit shouldn't it. I take it that you've checked with your supplier regarding this. Anything on Youtube?
  8. I've not had any problems with the supplied battery in my 14SG. I get 9hours+ but I usually recharge around 7 hours, I do however, test the battery from time to time just to 'be safe'.
  9. Good morning BEB. Thanks for your reply. Well this is strange because I've just tried the links again and they worked. I have had this little problem before. I've never had any trouble opening our forum or other links though. Just the advertisers. Barrie
  10. When I click on an advertiser link on this site's front page I just get returned back to the front page and not onto the supplier. Occasionally I get through but not often, Would this be a settings question?
  11. From what I have heard W.10 is a cut-down program without some of the features in W.7 etc. Perhaps that's why people have said that it is faster and less memory hungry. I don't know what the truth is but I'll not install until later in the year.
  12. Well, yes, the man was pretty foolish to run the 'Toy' indoors. It's all very well for people to pontificate but for goodness sake the young man has lost an eye! Let's have a bit of humanity here.
  13. What about that totally idiotic scene in 'The Thomas Crown Affair' where Pierce Brosnan gets to his feet in the Discus Duo to lean over the shoulder of Rene Russo to show her how to fly the machine. Priceless!  Where do they get these film people from. At least Steve McQueen remained seated in his version....... Edited By Barrie Dav 2 on 27/07/2015 15:27:17
  14. Looks good W.F. Major mods. Tim?
  15. Bill_B Y'know Bill. That's hardly fair, putting a link that website. Got the ancient juices boiling. No, that's hardly fair.
  16. Thanks for the info Shaunie Barrie
  17. I've a number of outrunner motors. Will there be a problem (with regard to the adjacent magnetic field) if some are stored 'naked' in the same compartment within an outer box? These motors would of course be touching in this condition
  18. Closing time here in Ille-et-Vilaine Brittany (half way between Rennes and St Malo) is 12.00 to 14.00hrs. The large supermakets do remain open all day though. In compensation, the daily shop closing time is generally 19.00h. Some of the smaller shops take their annual holidays in the holiday high season and they remain closed until the owners get back home. Most of the French people seem take their holidays in August. All of this can be a bit inconvenient but one gets used to it and plan to visit offices, banks, most shops etc. outside of these closing hours. This is all offset by the life here in France.
  19. You've done a really first class job Graham and have steered this quality Mag. in the right direction. Thank you. All the very best to you David. I hope that you will enjoy the editorship. I look forward to the editorials each month.
  20. Who's looking forward to a repeat 'Do' later in the year? Could be on the cards....... Oh. Joy!!
  21. Ah they don't make them like in the old days Josip! Interesting website Bill.
  22. As with Alan, I've never paid more than about €10 for anything from the Euro warehouse. I live in France.
  23. Have a look in your RCME mail box Edward. I've sent you a message.
  24. Welcome from a British expat in France Edward. I have that copy with the article that you want. If you PM me with your address, I'll copy it and post it to you. Barrie
