  4. Well, yes, and no. Or put another way, it depends! The flying clubs I'm in have 30 or 40 members and we don't have a safety officer, probably because one isn't felt to be needed. However for clubs that do feel the need, for whatever reason, if the job is taken to mean watching for safety issues and pouncing, then I can see the problems mentioned throughout this thread and that @Peter Miller was advised on. However if the job is taken to mean being more of a "safety leader", that promotes a safety culture in a positive manner, it can work well. But there has to be a need for the role, otherwise nobody will be convinced. I know that, as I perform that role in a volunteer group I help to run. We have round 150 members and do woodland work with about 25 to 30 volunteers on a session. We're do thinning work for a number of landowners including a national charity and the local authority, so are required to have a safety plan. Machinery such as chainsaws and ATV's are in use. I created the safety plan and ensure that our processes that enact the plan are well understood and up to date, and lead the safety effort. Every session begins with a short session specific operations and safety brief, and end with a debrief. The committee decided at the inception of the group that we'd adopt industrial safety standards and work to known best practice. We have a good safety culture and new members often remark that. However, when I go flying, that hat is left at home. Because it isn't needed at the flying field.

  6. Depending on what documentation you have, I'd take the "restore to factory settings" path. I'm not experienced enough on this subject to advise on specific parameters.
  7. Think I'd be paring it right back and beginning with the motor, esc, battery and servo tester. Check all connections as others have said, then fault finding by substituting battery and esc.
  8. Good progress. I've dry assembled the fuz and want to get it all worked out before applying glue. Can I ask, what did you use as a "stern post" between the two fuzelage sides please? A bit of scrap 8mm thick?
  9. No. I had* an OS 55AX in mine and it flew delightfully. * Elevator pushrod issue = matchwood. New kit in the queue.
  10. I've sort of had a back burner hankering for a twin electric as I've never had a twin of any sort. I suppose the perceived attraction is to try something a bit different, I'm not anticipating a twin to be a better flier. Rightly or wrongly. There's nothing in particular stopping me however equally, there's nothing starting me either. I suppose there are plenty of single prop candidates to keep me occupied. Price and complexity are not negative factors. The prospect of stooging around the sky with a bomber / passenger type craft is a non starter for me. It'd have to be something with aerobatic capability. Sport or warbird.

  13. My missus is looking forward to seeing mine in flight and I know she'll come down to the field- I think the colour scheme was a bit of a draw. Oh, and it's Downton ;-)
  14. Have you come across jetworks? https://jetworks.online/ Foamboard based, and a usually (but not always) a little smaller than @RICHARD WILLS offerings. However there are some real treats. A notional balsa EDf jet is on my aspiration list. As far as propeller warbirds go, I've decided there's nothing I particularly have the hots for over anything else, so am content to follow the crowd. Baaaa

  16. I've had that a few times, friends sending "new" friend requests. Always they've been hacked. As I don't have many FB friends, and most are real world friends too, it's easy to keep track of and seek verification by other means. One has to stay alert!

  19. Not an Angel, I have a Mythos 50e. The recommended CoG position is 165mm plus or minus 10mm. I started at "middle for diddle" and to get it at 165mm required the 6S Lipo to be as far forward as possible, and the Rx Lipo, Digi switch and optiguard to be as far forward as possible. Over the course of the first 10 flights of so, I evaluated the CoG by flying characteristics. 1) 45 degree climb, roll inverted test #4 https://ita.bmfa.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Basic-Trimming-for-Aerobatics-27-07-2023-v1.pdf. 2) Inverted flight. I moved the Rx Lipo, Digi switch and opti guard as far back as possible and the proceeded to move the 6S lipo back 10mm at a time. The final outcome was that it needed a slight touch of "down" to maintain inverted flight - how I like it. I didn't make a note of the final CoG position I'm afraid, and have now taken some of the bits out to do an undercarriage mount repair ;-( My point is that you may well move the servos around to get the "book" CoG and then find you move it back to where it was anyway to get it to fly how you like it. I'd be inclined to add the lead temporarily to get to the "book" CoG and test.
  20. Careful with the vehicle analogies gents as depending on which bit of the law selected, one can make a case for being "right". When used at work, PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Reguations) apply as well as all the road traffic stuff that other posters will know more than me about. So everybody can be right, and everybody is happy 😉 The relevance of this post to model flying regulations is that picking analogies to make a point is fraught.

  23. Just popped in to see if it'd got more positive. Seemingly not. It's easy to criticise. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, the BMFA do a good job for us.
