the unmagnificent man
Wow, looks great so far. I love the seat its the sort of thing I like to do, just add a bit to give it that little more realism without going OTT. Fantastic. Look forward to seeing the rest of this thread. Tony Bennett
Right i plan to dig this out again now and crack on with it. i will build it in tandem with the sea fury. first big job is to mount the wing boxes and get the wings to line up, been dreading this job and it is the main reason i have been putting this build off. got to get it done as i want to build an avro manchester mk1 next. got to clear and get rid of all the part builds first though. Tony Bennett
Well as i am waiting for wheels for the mustang i decided to make the ailerons for the Lancaster. while i had the riblets in my hot hand, i used them as templates and cut another set ready for the "Manchester" build (if it happens) hopefully if the misses goes away this weekend i can drag the table into the middle of the room and glue the wing mounts in. needs lots of space to do this bit. been dreading this part of the build
Stephen Grigg
Must be a hard job if your dreading it Tony you can always pop over and use my lounge.
Tony Bennett
just cant get my head round this bit for some reason. having a blonde moment, it will probably go fine without any problems. just got myself in a funk about for some reason. Tony Bennett
ailerons. thought i would make a start on the canopy paint to while away a little time.
Tony Bennett
well i did it. i cut holes in the fuselage for the wing boxes. the rear one lined up first time, the front one needs a bit of adjusting. i am within 1mm of square. so tomorrow i will glue in the rear box, slide the wings on and square it all up, then leave for a whole day to set. sat will see the front one glued in. then i can get on with the wings. Tony Bennett
Naa its ok, i have cut the nose off to make it removable for transport. going to have 3 wing bolts and 4 wooden dowels to hold it on. it was either the nose or the tail and i thought the nose as it is under less stress and load when flying. drops the fuselage length down to 62 inches. Bill Brown 3
Unecessary canibalisation i call it, you would only need an artic if you want to transport it "simples" apart from that, impressive to say the least.
Tony Bennett
wiring holes cut in the fuselage. nose mounts are nearly finished. once sorted i can cover and paint the nose, cockpit area.
Keith Simmons
That looks a long way back for the bomb bay doors to start, Looks to me as it starts under the front part of the wing and not at the start of the canopy. Are you going to use the same fuselage, inner wings and undercarrage/wheel sizes for the Manchester? Thanks
