Ken Tarran
I have a glow plug starter that will NOT stay connected to the glow plug if the engine is inverted or mounted to the side. It always falls off as soon as I use the starter on the engine and is very frustatiing. Does anyone have any particular glow starters or other devices which will overcome this and will stay fixed no matter what angle the engine is mounted at? Thanks, Ken
flight1
A remote glow connector so you can connect the glow in the up right position
Peter Miller
It sounds as if your glow starter is worn or tired.Buy a new one, take and engine to the shop if you can to check for security.
Don Fry
Seconded, invest in a new one, much as this advice hurts.

Glenn Philbrick
They are easy to take apart, run some solder over the bit that covers the glow and it should be OK. The brass tube wears with use which is why it drops off.
Braddock, VC
Earlier this year I bought a lipo powered glow start from SMC, it is exactly the same always falls off, luckily I have the cure, grow a third hand or get your mates to help when starting........ Shaunie
In my experience most glow clips start falling off in the end! My Rip Max glow starter started falling off recently, with the careful use of a small hammer to close the jaws up it stays on a treat again! Shaunie. I'd second that solution Shaunie.. shouldn't any more than this,,, unless its cream crackered! Then I'd go the new glow route...
