Glyn R
I have finished the fuse covering. I am about to glue in the Robart hinges. I normally use epoxy but I recently read about using canopy glue. Anyone tried it, should be less messy.

cymaz
I use epoxy...use plenty of Vaseline in the joint and around the knuckle. Work epoxy into the hole and on the END on the pin hinge. Best of luck
Glyn R
As far as I can tell Pacer hinge glue is no longer available. There are posts which say that canopy glue is the same. I think I will stick to epoxy. I have done this before it's fine but fiddly. Edited By Glyn R on 12/06/2016 17:59:

Glyn R
There has been a tragedy in my life. My wife lost her battle with cancer on July 23rd 2016. I now have to pick up the pieces so the Extra will recommence.

Thanks for all the condolences. Edited By Glyn R on 10/08/2016 17:29:
Martyn K
That's dreadful news Glyn. I am really sorry to hear that. Please accept my condolences and take time to let the pain heal a little Martyn

Glyn R
Thanks for all the kind words. Even though we have never met it has helped. I have started to finally fix the elevator and rudder. The pilot has a home so some progress has been made. I will post pics shortly.
Glyn R
The pilot rests on a removable platform above the servos. I like to use masking tape around the hinge holes which can be removed before it sets. Makes cleaning up much easier. The pin hinges were coated with Vaseline at the pivot before fitting. Finally with all controls attached. Next glue the canopy to its frame. Edited By Glyn R on 22/08/2016 09:37:
Glyn R
Fitting the aileron servos and pushrods. The clevis are screwed onto a 3mm threaded rod with a 4mm carbon sleeve. At the aileron end is a ball bearing connection.

David Davis
Nice work Glyn. Belated condolencies from me. I've been travelling. Which plan did you use?
Glyn R
The plan is the Roy Garner 1-4.5 scale version from Traplet. It was the nearest in size to my needs.

Adrian Smith 1
I had one of the original Cmpro Extras that I had an OS 120 F/S in it. A great flyer until I got too clever with it and it got re-kitted! Nice job by the way Glyn.
Glyn R
Same thing happened to me. It just occured to me that I only need to finish painting the cowl and it will be ready to fly. I will assemble it and test run the engine in the plane in the next day or so.
Glyn R
Assembled ready for engine test run. Just waiting for my assistant to arrive.
Glyn R
I have luckily discovered that there is a serious error in the engine mount. The reinforcement in this joint where the engine box meets the fuse is inadequate. It's already showing signs of movement before I have started the engine. The 1/2" balsa needs replacing with something much stronger. I will have to redo this joint before I can go any further.
