country flier
Glenn,The vid you put up is very good, showing well the flight quality. Not whippet fast but actually very scale appearing, lights and all. Using Loreena McKennitt (Night Ride Across the Caucasu, I think) as a musical background makes a nice touch.Harold
Bruce Richards
Word fail me. I can't describe how brilliant that video made me feel. I want one of those.

Glenn Moore
Thanks guys, the comments are really appreciated. Now that we have a few flights under our belt I need to get back to finishing off the paintwork. I am working on drawings now and will get them done as soon as I can, I will post details here as when I have more news.

Myron Beaumont
Glenn You know what I meant - Awe inspiring in every way . I cant decide what to take on as a "winter project build " Is it to be your Vulcan or a large ic 4 st powered biplane ?
Glenn Moore
Myron, if you fancy building a big Vulcan I will try to help any way I can. It is certainly a big pussycat to fly. I didnt have a plan for mine but enlarged a good set of drawings that had cross sections using a programme called tile print. You can take just about any picture and enlarge to whatever size you want, then print onto multiple a4 sheets that can be selotaped together. Needs a lot of paper and tape to do an 80" Vulcan. Ced
Followed this all the way through. Great build and an excellent job. Thanks for posting the video ~ just beautiful. All that was missing was the roar that sets off all the car alarms when the ground shakes.
A Collins
Hi Glenn, just caught up with the thread and looked at the vid, absolutely fantastic, what a wonderful job you have done.
Papa
Hi Glenn, How many sheets of 3 and 6mm depron would you need for the 80" Vulcan? We have to special order Depron from Europe. What we get locally is 20 - 30% heavier. There is an order being assembled, indoor flying time is near and it snowed here in Toronto today.Thank you. I last saw the Vulcan at the airshow here and your latest video was so lifelike I am in awe. What would it be like with four EDF's running, I imagine the sound would be great.Thank you showing the way.Jack Higgins.
Papa
Hi Glenn I should qualify the above by saying our sheets are 15" x 39".Jack Higgins
country flier
Hullo Jack,Four EDF in a Vulcan would be quite the set-up and in fact is one I've been thinking of for a while. The snow in Toronto must be part of that big cold air mass that is bringing rain here in Nebraska. Midwest products has a foam material that compares to depron in a 15" x 48" size which might be available in Toronto. Of course, Depron is a good material and with an order in hand........build,build,buildHarold

Glenn Moore
Hi Jack, Terry Mitchells 'V' force are all edf and are great models, check out the report on the basingstoke electric fly in for some pictures of them. The depron sheets I use are 31 1/2" by 47 1/2 " and I used around 1 1/2 x 6mm and 5 x 3mm sheets for the 80"A big thank you to everyone who has left comments, its great to know that people take an interest

Flanker .
Oh ++++++ this keeps happening. The forum post notification stops working. I thought that Glen was still waiting on the weather. So I missed the maiden. Webmaster take note!!!!'nway a fine result, well done Glen & Tracy!
Tim Mackey
'fraid we all suffer from this problem sometimes Flanker - even us admin types! Hopefully will be sorted when the new site goes live early next year. Sorry.
Doug Ireland
I think its amazing that you can hand-launch a 6lb model of that wingspan and keep it flying! I've never seen depron up close so I've no idea what its like to work with but from what I've seen on this thread, it just goes to show what a skilled pair of hands can do! Well done Glenn! Keith Simmons
Well done Glen and I am also thinking of building one, with 4 Midi fans and perhaps retracting U/C. but will build a few other models first to get the hang of using an EDF.. (Vampire or Venom)Would love to hold on to the plans, got a few from a website, but a bit blocky.
Glenn Moore
Sorry you missed the maiden Flanker, as usual the first flight was a bit nervous but I am really starting to enjoy it now.Doug, its all to do with wing loading, with a wing loading of around 6ozs it is loaded less than many gliders so hand launching is not a problem, its one of the reasons I like the ultralight models so muchKeith, Terry Mitchell's models fly great on 4 EDF's so it is a great way to go and it would be well worth checking out his build thread to see how he put his together. Ed Darter
Glenn - just stunning ! I'm interested in building one but a couple of questions :1 are you going to do plans for this size one as well as the smaller one2 you say the power setup is cheap, how cheap is that here in the UK ? ThanksEd
Glenn Moore
Hi Ed , motors I used are £9.98 each, ESC's £7.00 and batteries £26 for two. I dont think you could power a model this size much cheaper although I did add a BEC and seperate battery to run the radioGlenn
Ed Darter
Thats a bargain Glenn. Its definately on my 'to do' list now and possibly at the top of it. Are you going to produce plans for this size one as well then ?? please !
Michael Hickman
Slightly off topic, Dan Harrison has started a petition on the "No 10" web site to support the Vulcan XH558 project.
