Mark a
Some great piloting skills executed here putting XP924 down without any landing gear.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R5qEhY3XD6Q Edited By Mark a on 28/05/2017 18:01:50 Edited By Mark a on 28/05/2017 18:02:
Colin Carpenter
Pilot ok thankfully. Sea Fury did the same a while ago. Won't see that fly again for ages , if ever , due to costs. Planes crash a lot it seems ! Colin
Don Fry
Don't know much, but this one put down on the tanks, and the rest of the plane was off the ground. I assume, don't shoot me down, that these are dummy fuel tanks. Fix the fault, rebuild the tanks, and a rebuild of the cockpit hood. If this was your model, you would not be tooooooooo bothered. Nice flying however.
Mark a
Another view https://youtu.be/d4kwhwKDCWo She skidded along quite a way. The underwing tanks were destroyed so she would of settled on to her belly so we will have to wait and see what the damage is, one things for sure it will need a new canopy. Martin Whybrow
I hope she's not too badly damaged to fly again; the Sea Vixen is my favourite classic jet, it would be a shame not to see her flying again

Huge damage to the underside of the fuselage... It seems to have taken mosrt of the winter to reapir one flap and sundry other faults. I fear CVIX may not be airborne for a long time... KiwiKid
Here's the demo flight just before the wheels up - may be it's last flight. http://youtu.be/y1Ae1JieMZM Edited By KiwiKid on 29/05/2017 01:01:
Trevor
With a model, I think most of us would have opted for the grass rather than the runway. Presumably with the mass and speed involved here, the risk of it digging in and ground looping (or worse) outweighed any chance of reduced damage to the underside? Cliff Bastow
What a shame! Hopefully the damage is not to bad and can soon be repaired. I once attended a Hunter that had done a belly landing and the bottom of every fuselage former was shaved away! There must have been quite a bad fault as if memory serves me correctly the Sea Vixen had 4 separate hydraulic systems and the U/C could be operated by 2 of them.
