Glyn44
i would like to attempt my first scratch build. I have a paper plan of a rubber powered pixie. I would like to go to electric power, 3 or 4 channel, not sure which as yet. I reckon this would be easier to achieve if I enlarged the model from its 23" by about 25% - 35%. What is the method you people use to increase the drawing to achieve this. I really do not want to do it by hand as I am no draughtsman. Thanks. Phil 9
If this is your first build from plans my advice would be not to try to scale things up as there are a few pit falls in doing that as well as the added complication of converting it to rc. I would try and find a plan that is already drawn up in the size you want and is for rc. There are many to choose from on outerzone or aerofred
Ernie
Hi Glyn Take it to your local print shop Tell them the increase in size that you need (as a percentage) and They will sort it out Also, it will not be expensive ernie
kevin b
Glyn. Pm sent. However I do agree that for a first build, a scaled up model and conversion to electric is going to present you with quite a few problems. I Think Phil is right and would also suggest looking through the Outerzone plans collection at some of the vintage ic powered models. Much easier to convert to electric. Glyn44
Ok, points taken, but what are the pitfall/problems you mention. Ok I realise some messing about with weight, firewalls servo mounts will be necessary, but what else. I chose this model because it looked a simple design, so if not suitable please recommend something vintage for me to have a crack at. Many thanks, Glyn. kc
If you want a larger KK Pixie it has already been done as a plan in RCME so all the work has been done for you. See Pix E Major Its 42 inch span and it was free plan in RCME Dec2010. Probably somebody still has the plan - ask in your club.
Glyn44
Hi kc, That looks ideal, I will try and obtain a plan from somewhere. Thank you.

Martin McIntosh
I do this quite a lot. Just put the relevant parts of the plan into your printer/scanner and enlarge bit by bit until you have what you want. The wood sizes do not generally need increasing by very much. Costs virtually nothing to do and oversized parts can be taped together from two or more prints.
