Dane Crosby
you can buy a nice set of screwdriver handled adjusting sockets for that carb. Very similar to the McCulloch I owned.

Gary Manuel
Video at least shows what it should look like so you can find something to fit it. Price of THESE looks better than the single one. One of them should fit - but you won't get it by tomorrow morning.
john stones 1 - Moderator
I have some long handled sockets for modeling, is it my lucky day. Thanks Dane. Edited By john stones 1 on 14/10/2017 21:44:
Rich too
Hi John if it’s run fine for years why adjust the needles? Perhaps it needs a service? Just a thought
Denis Watkins
If used every season John, They just recommend a new plug, filter, and diaphram And change the oil if 4 stroke.
onetenor
Is this the one with the reed valve ? If so change that too as they wear after long use .The pen is s adjustable with a bit of heat.
Don Fry
And a new air filter? If it's run for years, explore all reasons why it has changed before thee twiddle.
john stones 1 - Moderator
It gets serviced n all the doodahs looked at/changed , simple thing to try a tweak before i strip down and look for an air leak. Things don't last 15 years without a tweak by accident you know.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Can't find owt wrong with the plumbing but i'll change it anyway, Chinese carb on it, Zama, i'm impressed, been a faultless runner. New carb set ordered. Been looking on Ebay at Stihl saws, better than looking at aeroplanes.

Casting and assembly may be done in Hong Kong but the Engineering is pure German.

Robin Colbourne
Sometimes a poor idle on a chainsaw is caused by a leaking crankshaft oil seal. **LINK**
john stones 1 - Moderator
Checked it already Robin, it's in manual troubleshooting list.
Robin Colbourne
John, In that case, the idle jet may be gummed up with old oil. Once you have bought your needle adjusting tool, open the idle needle 1/2 a turn or so and run it like that for a bit. Once it starts getting smoky at idle you know its now too rich, has cleared the old oil and can be leaned out again. Again as others have said, fresh fuel is essential. You can waste a lot of effort with stale fuel which has lost its more volatile fractions. At this price its worth getting as set of needle adjusters: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4Pcs-Set-Carburettor-Spline-Tool-Trimmer-Lawnmover-Screwdriver-For-Zama-BE-/371625342253?hash=item568698b52d:g:5V4AAOSwXeJXe4c3 Edited By Robin Colbourne on 18/10/2017 22:04:53 Edited By Robin Colbourne on 18/10/2017 22:05:
