Photo manipulation by George Paterson

For some time I have been enjoying the work of George Paterson as he uses his graphic art skills to produce some striking aircraft oriented art work (that he calls Slipping the Bonds) based on models, paintings and photos.

He will start with a plastic model like this:

and apply his skills to place the model in a panorama or flying backdrop, like so:

The effect is quite stunning and is sort of halfway between an in flight photo and a painting.

He can also apply his skills to RC subjects, like so:

Another trick he enjoys is enhancing poor quality painting or photographic subjects, adding lots of scale detail, like so:

Anyways, for your holiday entertainment I provide below links to some of his postings. He also records details of his techniques and information he has unearthed in researching the various aircraft. Click on the thumbnails to see the finished work.
