Thank for your concern gents !

Sinds 2016 i've been studying fouga's in books , video's , and even the real thing here in the Stampe Vertongen museum (antwerp )so yes , i've got that covered?.

The screws are not glued in untill the plug is painted , so i can adjust the depth by drill-sand their seat...and get the slot in the right position.

Don't want to upset the scale police !

@Danny FentonDid you take that shot ?

Hi all !

Held up by the daily job , a daughter that's moving into another house , and the struggle to get the right look for the panel lines , slowed me down more than i want the last week ?

The primer on the fuse didn't ''fill'' the panel lines enough to get the right look...so i tried to add more paint to them maually .

More sanding coming up !!

Hold your horses guy's ! Here i am , and i'm here to stay !

I know it's been a while sinds i posted here but i had (have) a lot on my mind lately...

My doughter is moving into our old house wich is being renovated completely at the moment so she's back living at hotel mama with her partner.

Besides that , my (so very much needed) hydraulic car lift broke down and no parts are availeble (1976)so i had to repair it myself. The link between el. motor and hydraulic pump was completely worn out .I had to weld up and re-form the pump shaft and the el.motor shaft. Al went well and we're back in business !

This all out of the way , allows me to go on with the magister.

The last month i was busy with the panel lines and dummy screws , primered the fuse with hatches , and finally got her in painted ! I must say , she's looking good !!

I could look at the newley painted parts for hours but no time to waste now !

I started to make the parting boards  , beginning with the nose cone. The rest will follow next days and will post  as much as i can so stay tuned once more !

For minimum risque i will make the nose cone in two parts , as this is easyer for de-moulding

Hi all !

With the parting boards for the nose cone ready , it's time to assemble them .Here's the sequence :

Glueing the cone on the base with epoxy

placing two marbels in the parting piece with epoxy

brush on some pva where the seam will come

glueing the parting piece in place with automotive filler (with reduced amount of hardener for slow curing )

placing some foam reinforcement blocks with epoxy

while the filler not completely hard ,remove exess filler and clean up the edges

      tadaa !!

With the nose cone ready for moulding , i started with the front hatch :

Hi all !

The nose hatch and motor hatch were prepped the same way . All three moulds make it possible to make the parts in two pieces for easy de-moulding :

Fingers crossed !

Next item is the fuselage itself.

Above all , these moulds have to be made in two halves : Left and right .Besides that , each half will be seperated in three parts :

1  an upper back part

2 a bottom back part

3  a front part.

That makes 6 parts in total . Additional , each hatch will have its own inner part : another 4 parts.  L and R motor hatch and L and R nose hatch.

So 10 in total !  Better get started !!

Hi all !

Right , the fuselage...

I started with the upper , right ,back part .This piece includes the inner part of the motor hatch.Piece by piece the parting boards are being placed on the edge of this fuselage part,15 or so in total.

Most of the parting boards are ''glued'' to the fuselage with automotive filler.

After a clean up ,it looks like this :

more later on ! Stay tuned !

Hi all !

Thanks for the interest Alan and John ! It's the last mould , promised !

Just added a few pieces of parting board today , it's a very time consuming job and it has to be done really carefully as it determines the quality of the mould.

I don't think I could ever bring up your patience, Dirk.

I used to build a lot of 'scratch' plugs for car parts at full size in a former life, but it seemed a lot easier than your Fouga model...

On a side note, is that framed 'red car' picture in the background a...  Porsche ??? ...

Cheers

Chris

Hi all!

Yes Chris it is a Porsche 911 , something i always loved to own , but never will . At least not the one i dream of.  I have a classic 914 from 1974but in fact it's nothing more than an upgraded vw i guess.

Tonight i got another two pieces of the puzzle glued in place. Bit by bit the part i'm going to mould first comes separated from the rest.

Four more pieces and i can start moulding !!

Hi all !

The first part is now ready to mould , finally.I was a bit worried for the exhaust area s i made up a seperate mould for this piece.

20210518_231720.thumb.jpg.5e0cbe183ac77279eb8febf51d80d17f.jpg

This part will be made seperate from the rest and will be hopefully removable , apart from the other mould.

As a test piece , i made the first half of the nose cone mould . All went well and the parting board came off easy.

The black part is the new mould , the brown part is the ground plate . The part with the marbels is the removed parting board. On with the second half !
