Bigflyer88
So, I am wanting to get an acrowot as my next model and have been shopping around looking at appropriate engines for this plane. So far all threads have pointed to either a 50-60 2 stroke or 70-80 4 stroke however I was looking g on just engines the other day and stumbled upon the NGH GT9 9cc 2 stroke petrol engine and was wondering what you guys thought about this engine for the acrowot? Let the opinions flow 🤔
Denis Watkins
"Dipping your toe in to test the water" the NGH would be a nice foray into petrol, but is bottom end of your power range, which may be what you want See what the boys have to say
Bigflyer88
Really! So are the petrols not as powerful as the equivalent glow engines then? I wanted to go petrol as I am currently in Cyprus and glow fuel is like gold dust out here.😔
bert baker
Marmite comes to mind with NGH engines..I have the 38 fourstroke it’s been good so far.
john stones 1 - Moderator
It ain't going to match the glows for power, and you've an ignition and battery to get in quite a small model, not sure it's a good match myself. Wouldn't put you off buying the engine, I've no experience of it, you thought of electric for the Acrowot.
Bigflyer88
No, I'm an engine man through and through. Not that there's anything wrong with electric.
Bigflyer88
Well I have an sc70fs lying around so may just go with this for now. I must admit the issues associated with some small petrols did worry me a bit.

john stones 1 - Moderator
Evolution 10cc would fit nice, they go into Wot 4s o.k, flys it like a 40 glow.
Geoff S
One of the big issues with small petrol engines is the noise. As supplied they seem rarely to meet many clubs' noise tests without some effort and/or modification. It would seem that it's also a matter of DiY as there seem to be few commercial alternatives to the ones supplied. Geoff
Bigflyer88
Well for now anyway noise fortunately is not an issue as cyprus clubs don't seem to be bothered by such things lol.

Bigflyer88
Yes I do amazing place to fly its like it was made for it. There is however a shortage of soft landing areas 😂
