James Archer
I'm just about to place my order. I'd like to use the Boeing chase plane scheme. Its the Red, White & Black scheme on N8686F.
Alan Gorham_
That's a nice scheme. It suits the Sabre very well!
Mark Kettle 1
A good choice James, the picture shows the drop tanks well, are you making and fitting them on the model?
James Archer
I hope so, but this is my first plan build in many years. I haven't really thought about that yet.

James Archer
This Plane can also be found in a Yellow scheme. The plane in its yellow scheme flew alongside the first 747 flight in February 1969. But I prefer the red & white scheme.
robk
Hi James I spotted this one too. I was at the Museum of Flight in Seattle this year and the Sabre they have there is this one, now repainted as it was also a record breaking transatlantic aircraft (also previously one of the Golden Hawks display team). If you are definitely doing it I won't as you were there first, but if you aren't let me know as I fancy it. Cheers Rob
James Archer
Slow progress, but at least it looks like a Sabre now..
Andy Meade
Hi James, Great progress - the shape is really coming along. Do you live in Llandudno Junction by any chance?
James Archer
Hi Andy, Yes I do, just near the Obelisk that you pass on the A470\A55. You'd think I'd be flying off the Orme every week, but due to family & work commitments I don't get to fly much.
McG 6969
Great progress, James. Nearly there now. Is it glassed already? ... or are you going with a different finish? Cheers & keep safe Chris
James Archer
My 3d printed pilot and seat have just arrived. Need to decide which head to use and then chop his legs off... 3D Pilot from eBay
James Archer
Almost done. This is my first PSSA build. It’s nowhere near the standard of some of you guys. It looks ok from 6 ft away…? Hope it’s not too heavy @4lb 2oz. Can someone remind me of the CofG location please.
Andy Gates
That is stunning, very well done
Martin Gay
The plan shows 165mm behind F4 (safe but nose heavy). Most of the flying Sabres are now set to 172mm behind F4 for a more neutral position. Set the tailplane incidence to the same angle as the wing, eg 0:0. 4lb 2oz is a good weight. Andy Meade
Lovely scheme James, hope you got on OK with my pilot and seat set! If you'd have said, I could have sent the proper F86 seat through though? Ah well, it all looks great now. James Archer
Successful maiden flight this evening off the Great Orme. Unfortunately the second flight ended in a stall and dropped a wing. So a few repairs required already. Hopefully the pilot & the plane will be ready for the mass build meet in September.
