Nigel Heather
Can anyone recommend any traditional build sports models that can make use of my stack of 3S 2200mAh LiPo batteries. I’ve seen the Easy Street 2 but in videos that looks too ballistic for me. Don’t mind a kit, plans or ARTF, just not foam. Cheers, Nigel Edited By Nigel Heather on 29/01/2020 19:01:
Dad_flyer
A 3s2200 gives you up to about 300W max on the motor for a sensible flight time. So anything that is 2lbs would suit, possibly 3lbs for a floater. Peter Miller's Ohmen fits the bill. A clubmate built one, and it looks lovely. Alternatively, something smaller that was designed for NiCad, so needs the nose weight. I have done that for my Tony Nijhuis ~30" SE5a. Waaaaay too much battery capacity for the model, but helped with balancing. Edit: For traditional and not ballistic, there is always the Junior 60. People seem to run them on 3s2200. kc
Peter Miller's Ohmen design seems a contender. Edited By kc on 29/01/2020 19:39:
Keith Berriman
Hi Nigel I bought the Easy Street 2 and had to modify as follows With the recommended motor on 11 x 5.5 prop it was fast and lasted about 4 1/2 mins dropped to a 10 x 5 and get the speed down and 5 1/2 mins Also went for a simple wire undercarriage and its a dream to take off and land

Nigel Heather
I’ve ordered the Ohmen plans - will take a look at them and see what I think. Also thanks for the tips on the Easy Street. Any pictures of the landing gear? Cheers, Nigel

brokenenglish
For me, "traditional build" means vintage, and there must be literally hundreds of vintage models that would be suitable for the 3S 2200 mAh.

No that isn't what I meant. I means a sports aircraft but using traditional build rather than foam. If that is wrong then I have posted in the wrong forum. That is what I always use and traditional is just the right name for it
Nigel R
How about Bigga Bit - but scaled down to 33"? I'm making one now (well, the 42" full size) - it could not be simpler or quicker. As everything (well, ok, barring the fin outline and rib shape) is a straight line, it is simple to lay out what little plan is required, from a few key measurements.
