Jonathan S
Hi I am looking for a Flair style se5a kit. Preferably 40 - 60 inches and electric or covertable to electric. I have looked at the ripmax kit but just not sure it looks that scale. What are the collective thoughts of Modelflying.... Thanks for your help... Cuban8
How about this from Dennis Bryant? **LINK** A nice model and as scale as any sports flyer would need I suppose. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone who's built a couple of trad kits before and is happy to research a few techniques. There is the DB Mannock, a much less challenging project, but has been simplified a tad too much and as such has an unsatisfactory appearance IMHO. Depends on what one wants I suppose. **LINK** Such a shame that Flair seem to be stuck in a constant state of 'restructuring' according to their website - been that way for ages, so I do wonder if they've thrown the towel in now. A pity, because all of their 'Scouts' and the SE5 in particular were excellent. Edited By Cuban8 on 26/08/2020 10:43:
John Lee
The old Top-Flite SE5a kit would seem to fit the bill. They occasionally come up on the second hand market but generally now demand a premium. Some details & plan download here.
J Moyler
DB Scale Models do a plan pack for a Scout biplane which looks similar to a Flair SE5a Link. Might be worth you looking into it. Regards JM
Jon H
I like the look of the super flying model kit version. I keep thinking i might buy one and slap a 40 4stroke in it but i have too many planes as it is!
Bob Cotsford
Come to Birmingham with a pocket full of cash and you could be going home with your very own pre-assembled full colour electrified Flair SE5a to fly on 3S

Jonathan S
Thanks guys great options. I have been looking on eBay. But never sure of getting a second hand kit of this age. But it's good to know the options I will have a look and a think. Now the warbirds replica p51 is nearly out the se5 research can continue as a back burner project.
