chris wedgwood
Hi all, I have acquired a plane with an AR6110 Rx, and I bought separately a Spektrum X6e Transmitter. Whatever I try I get BIND FAIL every time. Are these two things compatible?
Colin Carpenter
Your Rx is DSM2 but your tx DSMX ! Incompatible I’m afraid!
Sparks
Hi Chris, Your AR6110 is a DSM2 receiver. The manual for the Spektrum DX6e claims that transmitter is both DSMX and DSM2 compatible so, according to Spektrum's literature, you should be able to bind the AR6110 with the DX6e. Have a re-read of the binding procedure to make sure you are following it precisely - good luck. Sparks
Sparks
See here - DX6E
kc
DSM2 transmitters have not been allowed to be imported into UK or any EC country for about 3 years now. So any modern Spektrum TRANSMITTERS will be DSMX only. Modern Spektrum RECEIVERS will be both DSM2 and DSMX but older ones may not. Sparks I have tried both methods: 1. power Tx on with bind button pressed 2. use bind function in menu. Same results.
Shaun Walsh
The AR6110 is DSM2 modulation only. The European version of the DX6e is DSMX modulation only The two are incompatible. The link from Sparks leads to the US website, the DX6e sold in the USA is both DSM2 and DSMX compatible. DSM2 protocaol is no longer legal in the EU and UK so no current Spetrum transmitters use it. You will have to either replace the receiver with a newer Spektrum, Orange or Lemon receiver or buy an older, second hand Spektrum transmitter like the DX6i. The receiver option will be cheaper. chris wedgwood
I'm happy to be legal so I will keep the Tx. The model is 4ch, rudder, elevator, ailerons, elec motor. What Rx is recommended for that and DX6e? Ideally the cheapest
Gary Binnie
I believe DSM2 is still legal to use, just not legal to sell new.
Brian Dorricott 1
AR410 at £25 excellent receiver .
kc
Transmitters imported before the crucial date are legal to use. Note that the DX6i came in 3 types - DSM2 only, DSM2 and DSMX, and later DSMX only. So you would need to know which model if you did decide to go that route. ( DSMX have an X on the case and might or might not be DSM2 as well depending on when imported ) AR 410 is excellent with internal aerial instead of outside but it it's only 4 channel. Good for some models but not as versatile. If you will need separate aileron servos, retracts, flaps etc then buy a 6 channel.
David Davis
+1 for the Spektrum AR410. I have one in a vintage Big Guff which took me 14 months to build. If I didn't trust the receiver I would never have installed it. Very easy to bind. Edited By David Davis on 19/09/2020 11:13:

kc
In the long run buying an AR620 ( at about 33 pounds ) will prove a better buy as you can then use it for models that need 6 channels. The advice is always buy Spektrum from a reliable source as there are some fake Spektrum Rx sold online cheaply.
Tony elkin
One point of interest, I have been using a 6i for 3 years with 8 different receivers /telemetry... Nice piece of kit.... However it will not bind, ever, if closer than 2 to 3 M to any rx clone or original. So rx in the workshop and Tx in the bathroom is the perfect combination!
