Rich Griff
Great, perhaps the local toilet paper finishing plant that was recently closed down will reopen !?
Andy Stephenson
If this continues it will be the sewage canal which will be blocked by newspaper and magazine covers, back issues of BMFA News anyone?

Martin Harris - Moderator
I think the headline should have read, “Irresponsible reporting likely to spark panic buying.”
Martin Harris - Moderator
I wonder if they've considered adding weight at the bows and stern? It's sitting on silt so if they can compact it by a small amount, wouldn't it then be possible to pull it off as they removed the extra weight? Loading the bows and stern wouldn't risk breaking its back as far as I can see...
leccyflyer
From the pictures I saw it looks like a job for a heavy duty cutter-suction dredger at the bow and stern to remove the considerable amount of sand that the vessel is pretty deeply embedded in. It'll need clearance to be floated off - one end at a time and some heavy duty tugs to keep it in the right place during the operation. My late father's long term employer BosKalis Westminster specialises in that sort of thing and I understand that they have been engaged for the task. flight1
They need big water pumps to liquidate the sand under the stern starboard side. BIG tugs to pull back from the stern and a a couple to push the bow a bit to port and hay presto it's that easy?
leccyflyer
Not really that easy - the representative from BosKalis Westminster said it could take several weeks to accomplish recovering the vessel and unblocking the canal.
