If the model is flown with respect (i.e. no 0-100% snap throttle movements) then opposing props are not needed. Agreed. I have a Hanger 9 Twin Otter with 80 something inches span. Contra rotating props are not necessary. Not sure of my model's weight but I have 2 x 1kW JP outrunners. Can't remember exact spec, but it has more than enough grunt. leccyflyer
You did brilliantly Murat - very pleased for you to see the Islander take to the air and return to the ground safely and smoothly. Well done that man. 😎👍

The only issue I had was the angle of the horizontal stabilisor causes a lot of nose up pitch, it needed full downtrim to fly level. DSC09199.ARWUnavailable I had to give full down trim too as it kept pitching up. I will also move the CG slightly forward too.
RICHARD WILLS
Well done Murat . That was a gallant restoration and electric conversion . I admire your persistence having seen the starting point. It looks bang up to date now . Weirdly I remember the front cover of RCM&E featuring the prototype back the 70s . I think it was white and blue . Yours looks better 😉
leccyflyer
Here's a wee video clip of Murat's Islander maiden flight. Apologies for the zoom lens of my digital camera impinging on the frame - I didn't think that through and wanted to get both video and stills of the event.

I had the same issue, I think the angle of incidence of the stabalizer is quite negative. Looks like a great flight, well done!
