How much?

The chap in the photo, a friend of mine, sold the Supra to another club member for 750 euros 4 years ago. The model has sat unflown in the new owners house ever since. I asked him if he would sell it to me and for how much. He said yes and wants 800 euros for it which I think is outrageous!

Sure, the Supra is a quality ship and is in good condition but is circa 2011 and things have moved on a lot since then.

I don't want to hurt his feelings but I am thinking of offering him 500 euros tops.

Anyone wish to chime in with thoughts, suggestions much appreciated.

Always tricky transacting between friends. Market value changes over time, both up and down. I'm not sure how or if market value can be established for this glider, however for a bicycle I sold and a motorcycle I bought, the price was based on actual recent prices similar items have realised. In one case ebay sold items, in the other a specialised facebook group. That way any discussion is based on establishing current market value, rather than "I think it's worth X".

Its worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so if you really want it pay the asking price. If you are not fussed stick with your offer, the seller wont get what he is asking and he will come back to you at some point.

PS I wanted a kit and the one I spotted came without UC, bought it then found another kit with UC for about the same amount...now have two kits and one UC. I paid the price because that what I wanted such is life!

PS I think you are on the right lines with your offer, kit ages, electronic components could fail and by the time you have checked and swapped a few bits you would be back to the original sale price.

I concur Peter.

In the four years he's had it he has not actively been trying to sell it.

Also, he has several other models he bought new, an example being the E-flite Valiant ARF 1.7m. He made some remark about the ailerons not fitting properly and it has sat at his house since.

A friend remarked that perhaps he sees them as invetments like antiques.
