Rudder has no affect whatsoever until tail is lifted . I think the bulky fuz and wings block air flow/propwash to the fin . I will try a bit of tow in if uc will bend as its made of quite stout proper piano wire , very springy. 15 hours ago, stu knowles said: Lovely finish and colour scheme on the model although if t'were mine I would re think the bolted on struts. So slow and fiddly, the assembly / dis-assembly will discourage frequent and regular outings. I opted for clip on struts using large clothing poppers as per the panic bipe. They clip on easily in seconds and seem very secure. Only had a few flight but seem ok, plus if you have a mishap they will let go without ripping the model apart.
Comper
Maiden flight today 6th March 2024 weather fine a bit blustery. The model tracked well a little bit of toe in on the wheels so no problem. flying on low rates but not low enough so a bit skitty on elevator. Second flight with much reduced rate on elevator it was a different model and turns well on rudder doesn’t need ailerons. The Saito 40 FS is well matched in fact flying at half throttle. looking forward to flying the Elf on calm sunny days this summer. Comper
What was wrong with all things model flying ?
Comper
April 25th I’ve had plenty of flights now with the Elf, still tracking straight and does well in windy conditions. Saito 40 FS is perfect and even with a small 4 oz tank I’m getting 10 minutes with plenty to spare running on half throttle.

It's so beautiful that I'm going to build it! I wish you many happy landings! Best regards! Thomas from Germany
Edward Po
Hi Cooper: Very nicely build model! Elf is on my bucket build list. Hopefully, with your finished model it will give me the push!
