They seem to have developed incredibly since i last saw a wee rubber band powered toy fluttering around the park. The flapping mechanism looks like it's all sorted out, with lots of carbon fibre, exotic metals, and really complex geometry. Controlled flight seems well possible. Now, i'm not really interested in a wee toy, I need a golden eagle sized job, with a complex structure so that I can show off my extraordinary building skills. Very few commercial kits available and lots of impressive solo development that does become available.
