Engine Doctor
Loads of MDS' flew really well.......... on a trace as a fishing weight 🙂. Only joking, well sort of as many of them were pretty horrible but an occasional one would turn up and be a great runner. Could we have a "worst engine" . Andy Stephenson
The RIpmax flying team, as was, seen at the model flying shows, were known for putting OS carbs on their MDS engines to make them more reliable.
Richard Wood
OS 40FSR - fond memories of it in a Wot 4 MK1. JEN 47 - sometimes a bit reluctant to stop & would run at a very slow idle, but started easily & was quiet & powerful. The black & purple looked interesting. Richard Wood
Should also mention an ASP 40 that ran faultlessly in a Crescent Bullet, unlike its pilot.😏
J D 8 - Moderator
Following the Cox on the test stand PAW 80 I picked up a few years ago SH, has extended compression screw and a very nice prop shaft extender knurled both sides for grip. Fired after a few flips and ran like a good one as soon as some gunge in ventury cleared. Throttles well too. Been on my "must make something for it to fly in too long". A little gem.😁
John Stainforth
I may have mentioned it before. My brother and I tried most of the 1 to 2 cc diesel offerings in the early 1960's (ED, AM, DC), and in our experience nothing came close to the ED Super Fury for reliability and power. Richard Harris
Irvine 61, fitted it in a Masterline Vandal ( theyd sold out of the Laser 200 I was after)that I'd saved up to buy with my paper round money. Flew it for years and it never let me down once, the Vandal has long gone but I still have the Irvine somewhere. One day a Vandal or laser kit will turn up for sale. Richard Harris
Favourite diesel is a home made 0.2cc Mills, this is fitted in a OD free flighter. https://youtu.be/MePS2o0CnKU?si=eufk7fNwzSbKv_Nx
