001
David, I am afraid that Nokia beat you to it, their new mobile phone control system is already in use in Finland, designed by their development engineer Loof Lirpa!
Chris Card
There are certainly some very interesting possibilities opening up as more computing power gets built into our every day environment. I wonder what’s next? I’m betting that as cars get better onboard computers to power sat nav, cruise control, etc. a standard operating system like Windows for cars will emerge. If the next generation onboard computer for cars has wi-fi built in you straight away have potential for a 2.4GHz transmitter there too. So all we need is some software whiz kid to write the code and I can look forward to flying all through the winter safe and warm inside my car. Just park up in the pits area, tune into radio 4 for a bit of company and load up your RC software on the old in car computer! >>

Dave Towell
Did no one else realise the date as the 1st of April or is that just me? If I'm wrong..... (and I often am!!!).... then I'll be getting an iPhone then.
Myron Beaumont
I still don't know where to mount my satellite dish for my mobile phone
iawnski
so what about mode 5 can you still use it? is it on 2.4 ?
Myron Beaumont
I am not sure of its frequency .If it;s on 35 Mhz I have a few bits & bobs I could maybe adapt. In spite of that I've only ever used a "normal" aerial . Should I make a "mini-dish" or something ?
Marcus
Has anyone noticed the date? And look at the finger that is over the iPhone. It is very pixelated and looks like it has been cut/pasted there...
Matthew Lloyd
It's genuine - I had an email from Apple a while back talking about this and other apps.
Chris Card
Of course it's genuine. I think you only have to look at the iPhone story posted a few days ago (the wind meter app) to see how many of these useful functions are being implemented. There must be an army of developers out there working on this stuff.

Chris Card
I wonder if we could get any response from a BMFA representative to this important new development in the world of RC?
David E
One detail that seems to have been missing from the Modelflying.co.uk coverage of this story is that buddy boxing is possible via bluetooth. Control is passed between the two phones by voice recognition.
Dave S.
What nonsense, Loof could never be a Finnish name Dave not-a-Finn in Finland
