Vecchio Austriaco
Time to add one. Not really in focus as it was already a bit dark - taken at Casatenovo (where I lived the last 11 years) on the 27.01.2008 at 17:40. Interesting colours. James40
Not particularly clear but a snap I took flying over the Alps yesterday of a Lenticular cloud forming over a Cumulonimbus cloud, definitely one to avoid as that's quite a turbulent place to be. The Lenticular developed as we got closer until it merged into the rapidly climbing Cumulonimbus. A little fact for you on Cumulonimbus clouds, in the Northern hemisphere the CB's only reach around 36,000ft as that's where the tropopause ends, at the equator the CB's can tower up to 60,000ft as due to centrifugal effect the tropopause is wider at the equator. Go to the North or South Pole and your thunder clouds only reach around 12,000ft. Edited By James40 on 20/05/2011 18:10:
