  1. Just playing, 810kb and 12kb I'm not sure why the J60 comment came out as a hyperlink though!
  2. If the bolt size is so critical, where do you stand on MS v HT bolts? Another wise man once warned against using HT (ie most cap head screws) as a crash can result in the mounting lugs giving way before the bolts, whereas common mild steel bolts will bend, stretch or break leaving the lugs intact. Me, I'd be happy going down a half size to 3mm on a 52 4 stroke or cooking 40 2 stroke.
  3. Piers, I had an FMK kit, Jetster possibly(?), that used cut foam wings. IIRC the suggestion was to just film cover for .049 power or nylon PVA'd on for up to .20s. I used 25gm cloth attached with PVA which proved pretty much indestructible.
  4. Helpful Matt? Looks like a bunch of 5 to me, which we generally regarded as being the cue for a general brawl ?
  5. My issue with Sullivan clevises is that I've had a number where the pin hasn't been riveted into the arm, meaning that if they get sprung slightly the pin comes loose (often falling out when trying to connect to a horn!) so the clip is essential. I've had Sullivan snakes come with either UNF (gold coloured) or metric (silver) fittings.
  6. You could go vintage with a Mercury Galahad, either from the Outerzone plan or the Ben Buckle kit.
  7. I guess, if you limit it to only two members on site at any time. Really I would have thought 29th would be more appropriate.
  8. Ron, it's said that Ethos will be released for the X10. If it is I'll give it a try, especially if someone can come up with an Opentx/Ethos conversion utility. I'm always happy to play with something new. anyway, once one model has been programmed most of the hard work can be done by copying that and tweaking where necessary.
  9. The first few posts here also give a view of the beta system, as with most of these FrSky threads by the time you get a few pages in it degenerates into a lovers v haters argument.
  10. This has cropped up in RCGroups OpenTX threads a few times but as I'm not a Mac user I didn't pay too much attention. I seem to remember there being discussion about the way that the Apple system tags files and folders, unfortunately RCG threads aren't the easiest to search though google might find something under 'opentx and Mac os'.
  11. You have always been able to edit a quote, just as you've always been able to view other peoples photos unless they're marked as private. Nothing new or any different to most other sites there. Similarly, if a post is quoted that quote remains as-is regardles of whether the original is edited or deleted.
  12. If you're looking for a step up from something like a Radiomaster or Taranis it might be worth waiting a couple of months and looking at FrSky's new X20 offering with it's new Ethos operating system. Ethos looks to be almost as flexible as OpenTX but with a more user friendly front end. There are various reviews starting to appear on Facebook, RCGroups and the like from beta testers. Talk is of a late March release and a 'modest' price point. What's that in the real world, April-May and £300-£400?
  13. I suspect that most of those still using the gallery/albums for storage are doing so from habit- or as a form of cheap cloud storage ?. As you say Tim, direct upload and copy/paste really makes the gallery obsolete unless you actually want to set up a public display of your pics.
  14. I was sure that if you clicked on 'Albums' on the old site that it displayed the latest photos uploaded just as the 'Gallery' menu option does- unless the album owner flagged it as private.
  15. Yes, a much better forum to use all round, and with the Mod's tweaks it's only getting better. Thanks again for your efforts?
  16. Simon, you just reminded me of the other reason I like one channel per retract - I found it worked more reliably with E-flite units than when using the supplied Y lead. It's supposed contain a signal amplifier but it never seemed to work for me.
  17. I think the beautifying only affects some 3rd party flght controllers from what I can make of the RCG discussions, those using linked receivers seem happy enough. If you want real redundancy then I'd go for a redundancy bus such as your RB10 as it gives battery redundancy and drives the servos direct from the batteries rather than loading up the receiver bus. I've not used an FrSky one but I used to use Jim Drew's XPS XP10 unit when I owned petrol powered models.
  18. A terrible loss David, and a real wake up call. If it was me I'd give serious thought to buying another charger. All those that I've used have a time cutout, if the pack isn't fully charged after the maximum time set the charger switches off. Essentially it's telling you that something is wrong and needs attention. If yours chuntered away trying to balance a pack for several hours I'd have second thoughts about using it again. The models can be rebuilt, the main thing is you are still in one piece and have a roof over your head?
  19. Probably Nigel, but I have the luxury of being able to run them off an SBUS decoder with a choice of 16 channels and built in servo slow and delay functions (OpenTX?). I may be overthinking things (not for the first time) but I just like the idea of smoothing the supply demand when it comes to a potential 3+Amp draw on a trike setup.
  20. Retract wiring will melt at some point, then it's problem solved?. I'd always use a separate supply for servo driven mechanical retracts as a stalled retract servo can keep drawing a high current. As Martin pointed out, most electric retracts have stall protection so they will switch off after a couple of seconds. All the ones I've used have done so, even cheap HK ones. I've run a single supply with electric retracts for many years without issue. What I do try to do is to use one channel per leg with a delay between each so start up surges don't all come at once. It works well if you have enough channels available and has the bonus that the staggered retract action looks especially good on a warbird. One option I've set up but have yet to fly is on an electric twin I have one BEC driving the retracts and the other the sevos.
  21. I reckon the high oil content is largely a hangup from the days of bronze bushed engines running meehanite pistons in steel liners. Nothing like a skin of burnt castor for sealing a slack piston!?
  22. There's this one that can be configured without OpenTX using the rotary switch
  23. FrOS can drive the external module but it doesn't have the ability to configure the protocol used. However - if you can find the 'older'(?) multimodule which uses a rotary switch to select the protocol you could be in business.
