I think you'll find that the switch only disconnects the Rx, the battery is still being drained when in the off position. I still have several old Jeti ESCs but the switches have now been removed & the wires shorted.

If this is a reference to my post, I am not proposing disregarding first aid provision for any reason.
-
I don't think non-commercial organisations have any legal responsibilities regarding first aid. It may be a good idea to have suggested guidance & some first aid equipment available but I think if a club formalises specific procedures &/or equipment it opens a can of legal worms.

I agree with Brian but add that if the servo is one of a pair I'd replace both, since they will have had the same wear & tear.
-
He may have actually only run it down to LVC (Low Volt Cut) level, in which case it will probaly recharge OK but will have lost one of it's 9 lifes. 😉

It may seem counter-intuitive but so long as you turn the prop over TDC slowly by hand first, an inverted 2 stroke engine is less likely than an upright mounted engine to suffer flooding or a hydraulic lock when attempting to start.
-
I don't think so.

If you're refering to the OP's problem, why would connecting the push rod trigger the problem ?
-
Toto, there is no universal rule on what qualifies someone to fly without supervision. Individual clubs can have their own or even no criteria at all.
-
Really ? Surely the airflow over the top surface of the wing will have become detached & turbulent well before reaching the ailerons.
-
Sounds like what Martin was hinting at earlier, the wiper's probably light in feedback potentiometer or there's a bad connection. I'd be inclined to bin the servo unless you're prepared to open it up & look for an obvious bad connection first.

Is it an electric model with BEC or does it have a separate Rx battery ? If the latter it could be that the Rx battery is either needing a fresh charge or duff.
-
Good luck, Matty. Great to hear you're making progress. 👍

But Toto wants to fly at a fairly constant airspeed not groundspeed in order to maintain a constant altitude without adjusting elevator trim, therefore he only needs to alter the throttle trim when/if the model has wandered above or below where it should be regardless of windspeed. IMO a buzzer indicating trim setting would only be an unwanted distraction.

Isn't that quite a bit closer to home for you ?
-
Sorry, I think we've both misread the meaning in each other's posts. To be clear using a slow tick over setting with electric power allows the prop to freewheel even if the esc is set to brake when power off.
-
Oh yes you will.
-
The T31M has so much built in drag that I doubt the very small spoilers would make much noticeable difference to the descent angle. IMO a better option would be to hold the throttle to a slow tick over & let the prop create the drag.

I do almost the same as Dickw but cut out the servo position first & fix a piece of ply liner at the wing tip end of the void. I find that it's not necessary to heat the end of the wite to red hot.

Hi Chris, I think I've dumped some there in the past but I've also left old Nimhs & hearing aid batteries in supermarket disposal bins. I believe they are obliged to provide this facility as they sell these types of batteries.
