  1. I have a WOT 4 kit built with Saito 82. Never flown, just needs a receiver and the cowl fitting. PM me if interested.
  2. Got me thinking Jon as I have a Wots Wot XL in the loft that could do with a 4 stroke!
  3. I have a Falcon in the build queue. I was thinking of using a Saito 80 up front as I have a couple spare. Is the RCV up and running Jon?
  4. Great news Richard, please put me down for a set. Building season approaches!!
  5. Jon, put me down for a Laser 80. Let me know when ready and I'll come and collect. I have sent you a message via the Laser web site.
  6. Put me down for a Hurricane please Richard.
  7. You just can't beat the smell of the ether in fresh fuel, the smell of burnt fuel is just as pungent but not as nice. Chopped my fingers many times on PAW 19D's and Copeman Oliver's.
  8. Ron, I plan on doing an IC version. Got some Saito 82's going spare or may contact Jon for two Lasers. Yet to decide.
  9. An 80 year old woman gets arrested for shoplifting. In court the judge asks her what she stole. She replies, a can of peaches. How many peaches were in the can? asks the judge. Six your honour, replies the woman. I think I'll sentence you to six day in jail, says the judge. Before he can pass sentence her husband pipes up, She also stole a can of peas!
  10. My problem is, further, compounded by my surgery going in to lockdown. The doors are locked to passing 'traffic' If I can get answer to my phone call I can't get past the non trained receptionist. The surgery group has been taken over by an american health group.
  11. I am in a bit of a 'cleft stick'. I suffer adverse reaction to the 'flu' vaccine. I also have adverse reaction to prescription medicines, I think it is down to the 'fillers' used in some tablets. I long for freedom to enjoy my retirement. What do I do? There isn't sufficient reliable information available to enable me to make a 'safe' decision.
  12. Great music! Is methanol/ether/cellulose/ amyl nitrate responsible?
  13. I have several Saito 82's and have found a 14 x 6 works well. As Jon has posted before, start it, tune it, fly it. None of mine were run in on the bench, just take it easy for the early flights.
  14. Got to agree with Jon. Back in the early 70's (in the days of my youth) I was messing about with combat control line using Copeman Oliver Tigers and PAW 19's. We tried mixing our own fuels trying to get the edge. We realised that the commercial fuel, KeilKraft Nitrated diesel, did just what it said on the tin and we didn't have to hunt around local chemists to find the ingredients. Class 'B' team race with ETA 29's was a different matter.
  15. To be fair to OS the peeling cylinders could all be down to a change of operator in the plating company or a change of company. The chrome plating process has to be followed meticulously or failure results.
  16. I have spent the majority of my working life overhauling aircraft landing gear and hydraulic components. Any repairs involving plating of any kind in bores was always problematic. Difficult to jig the component to be plated and awkward to get the pre-cleaning of the area to be plated right. Chrome plate does not take to steel very well and should have an 'undercoat' of copper to aid adhesion. Nickel, if anything is worse.
  17. Sorry for the length of this but just have to share. A chorister goes to see his priest to take confession. "Forgive me Father for I have sinned" says the young lad. "And what is your sin my son?" says the priest. "I have committed a carnal sin with a girl of this parish" the boy replies. "What is the name of this girl? says the priest. "I cannot give her name as I don't want her to suffer the stigma of my behaviour" says the boy. "If you do not give her name how can I help her get forgiveness for her sins?" replied the priest. "Sorry Father I cannot give her name" says the boy. "Was it one of the Green girls, Mary or Susan?" enquires the Priest. "I cannot give her name, Father" replied the boy. "Or was Julie O'Donnell?" enquires the Priest. "I still cannot give her name" the boy replied. "Or was it Anne McBurnie? the Priest enquired. "I cannot name her" the boy replied. "Or was it Linda Driscoll? asked the Priest once more. "Father I cannot allow myself to name the girl" stated the boy. "Well, in that case" says the Priest "You must say 2 hail Mary's and you are excluded from the choir for 2 months" The boy leaves the confessional and is met by his young friend who enquires as to what was his 'sentence'. The boy replies "I got 2 months holiday from the choir and the names of 5 'hot' girls!"
  18. Count me in please Richard. Bomber version. With the onset of another lockdown I need something to do.
  19. Paul, mine is still in the box as I'm building a Warbirds Spitfire, my first warbird. I have lifted the lid just for a quick peek a sniff of the balsa. Have a Merry Christmas one and all!
  20. Just to put my two cents in on the shortage of balsa. I have had a conversation with my nephew who has been working in the off-shore power generation business for over a decade. When I mentioned the shortage of balsa we are facing and it's use for turbine blades, he has assured me that the turbine blades are hollow. Given the size of the things they cannot afford to have something that big made a solid. (waiting to be shot down in flames!)
  21. Hi Malc, This is my favourite engine and have 6 of them. They do not come with a washer for the exhaust, I have never used one and have never had a problem keeping the exhaust tight. A couple of turns of PTFE tape round the threads before fitting and screw into the head then, using a well fitting spanner, tighten the locknut. Job's a good un!
  22. Richard, I'm having problems with the 'following through' bit. My doctor has assured me that the pills should start working soon. SIT TIGHT!!
