  1. The biggest problem with these types on maneuver is a well trimmed model, I don't mean here a few clicks of something to get it to fly straight. You have to reduce / remove cross control contamination. What I mean here is for example if you apply rudder, you only get yaw, not a coupled roll and usually pitch. If you are trying to fly a 45 degree angle, when applying top rudder to hold it you need the rudder to be as pure as possible, otherwise as well as holding line you have to juggle and manually take out any cross control. That's what your mixers are for Andy
  2. How about a slightly larger Super 60. This might help. Also to Whet your appetite my Super 60 build and Astro Hog build. Andy
  3. Hi bought a magnetic building board at Gaydon last year. I have it on an old glass shower door to keep it flat. Also bought some 10mm * 3mm magnets and made some more clamps. Its grrrreat to use the vernacular. Andy
  4. I do seem to be logged in longer, and can jump to another site and back again, but after a short while of inactivity I have to log back in. Andy
  5. I too have to log in every time I visit the site, sometimes just navigating off the site and back again causes it. I'm not here much these days because of it, its just a nuisance. Andy
  6. May be posted elsewhere but have you seen the following videos. From the BBC on Drones quite a responsible 15min on iPlayer. And Plane Resurrection on Netfix, only seen the Mustang one but excellent. (Not sure the Netfix link will work if not logged in but search Plane Resurrection and you'll find it. Andy
  7. Hi Yes it can happen, what I do is a light dusting of matt white primer to even the colour out. An example can be seen on my Pterodactyl build. Andy
  8. I bought a magnetic system from a trader at LMA Gaydon. I've made a few more clamps with magnets from ebay. Simply love it. Andy
  9. Totally agree Colin - I too am a developer and its these small details that if right users can forgive the bigger stuff. What is it they say? - you can have On Time, On Budget, Good Quality. Pick any 2. Andy
  10. Good point Frank. I was reading it as thou - as was everyone else I think. A
  11. Would 0.2mm be any good, I used this on my 1/4 scale DB Pup. Andy
  12. I print myself on std A4 and sticch together. I can also cut disposable templates. See this article I did a few years ago. Andy
  13. I hinge first, and trial fit any control surface - that way any sanding can be done to make sure the fit is good. I agree with Tom you have to remember where the slots are, I do this by keeping the hinges in the moving part whilst I cover the other, I then have a reference, and move the hinge to the newly covered part as a reference for the surface. Just re read that and it sounds complicated, but its not really. Andy. PS have you seen my hinging article from a few years back?
  14. I fear this was all part of the plan, cheap prices forcing LMC out of business, now the price hikes come, hidden behind brexit (OK that was probably unforeseen). Andy
  15. Something like the Basic 3D would be good, we could have a Funfly comp at Greenacres, maybe a mini league over the summer. Andy
  16. Sounds like a collector with some gaps in their collection. I'm looking for a Digifleet set in good condition for the same purpose of converting. Andy
  17. I wrote this a few years ago now. Might help. Andy
  18. For me its a no-brainer, Its only 30 mins away and I'm an LMA member so hopefully there will be a concession on the gate. It was the last show of the season for me (but now we have the new Ragley hall one to look forward to) Its a quiet, low key show, but always worth a visit. Andy
  19. Sorry Percy, I had a 40 sized engine , some years ago. Andy
  20. I had a 40 some years ago, Als hobbies was selling them off cheap. It was fine, plenty of power, and started with a few flicks, (I start all my 2 strokes by hand). I think you had to be lucky, there were a few 'Friday' engines about. Andy
  21. Try putting a wanted ad on the BMFA website. Andy Edited By Andy Green on 17/08/2016 09:47:20
  22. All my models these days are finished with a coat of clear Klass Kote. Expensive and dodgy to use if sprayed (its 2 pack epoxy), but I've not found a better proofer. Andy
  23. Signing in to follow along. Looking forward to this build, I have a friend building one, and its on my list too. Andy.
  24. Just had an email to our Club: We are writing to tell you about an exciting new primetime BBC2 series we think will be of interest to your members. Skies Above Britain is a five part series starting 17th August at 9PM exploring the stories of the different pilots who populate the six thousand planes that soar over Britain each day. From supersonic fighter jets, to one hundred and fifty-ton freight planes, vintage aerobatic display planes, the latest commercial jets, hot air balloons and drones the series follows pilot’s personal stories – and their unique birds eye perspective - and shows how this aerial ballet is meticulously choreographed by air traffic services.
