Used to get our Model Racing Hulls from the shop in Clapham ! First synthetic fuel which used to absorb the moisture in the boats and bearing failure became common , quickly ! What about Model Aircraft Supplies Camberwell ? Can’t remember his name , but stopped off from work on Fridays for bits. He had a lathe in the basement and would turn down the flywheels on Mercos to get them lower in the hulls. Nice , helpful chap !! Lewisham Model Centre , supplier of first Mcgregor S/C and Wave Rider ! Colin

Have a look at the Lemon Rx stabilisers. No pc programming. Pots on Rx. Lots in use where I fly. No problems ! Colin

Sounds as though whatever locks the flybar axle is missing a lock of one sort or another. Can you see if a grub screw or similar is missing. A quick fix would be a pair of collets to lock the axle in a balanced position Morley 🚁 used similar decades ago. Colin

Things that have dropped off in flight
Colin Carpenter replied to Chris Walby's topic in All Things Model Flying
Sebart Shark 🦈coming out of a loop, when I heard a strange noise and thought I saw the spinner hanging off ! Cut the throttle and dead sticked down ok. Walked over to the model and saw the motor hanging out of the nose with wires twisted to hell. The fibre mount had broken apart and motor fell out of the cowl !😱😱All the bits were inside the cowl so a rebuild wasn’t too much of a problem. It was a secondhand plane that was purchased in 2012 and never flown. No gussets on mount which were added during the rebuild. Colin Edited By Colin Carpenter on 11/06/2020 19:15:21 -
Malcolm. Are you going to teach yourself? I would try to find somebody to test fly it for you if you cannot ! Helis strapped down are not ideal for fault finding I find. It’s likely to be main or tail blade balance and a test hover will help identify it ! Colin

All 5 of my Sebart 30’s use carbon rod secured by a cap head bolt at both ends. 700 flights without even needing tightening up ! Can’t be that awful ! Colin

Don’t forget to check for black wire corrosion in tx especially from plug onwards. Seen an expensive JR go like fungi in under 3 years ! Colin

He’s as clear as mud ! However , I agree with Cuban as above ! Family members only! So we can fly alone in a club scenario with an organised rota ! Disenfect padlocks 🔐 etc ! Anything else will just mean NHS workload will go through the roof and family members will suffer in approximately 2 weeks ! Colin

Superb ! Hope it flys as good as it looks !!🤞Never see it in the air though !!😂😂Colin

Align.com have manual to download. Just done it so definitely works ok. If you are finding it hairy use rates on all 3 main controls and take top end off pitch and throttle until you can manage! Colin

Just a thought but if you have left a battery connected in the tx all these years it is highly probable that black wire corrosion has gone through the boards ! You need to check thoroughly! If no battery left in - no prob ! Colin

Craftsmanship of the highest order ! Colin

Saw it at Wroughton decades ago when it held a vintage fly in. Beautiful !! Really taken by the large DH logo embossed on the leather of the doors !!! Wonderful !! Colin

Just watched the Mossie. I remember going to see the NF2 rebuild in Yorkshire decades ago. Impressive ! Tony was cutting a scarf joint on a wing spar with a normal rip saw !!! My wife picked up the pilots releif tube apparatus from the floor and spoke into it , asking Tony , is this the pilots radio ??? He told her No !! The pilot peed into it in flight !!! She was nearly sick !😂😂😂😂😂😂 Still did laughing thinking about it !!! Colin

I may have flown one many years ago in my indoor club . I don't have fond memories ! RC Universe have some information , but if you wish to learn to fly a helicopter , then a club is the way to go. If you want to go alone then a Blade Nano RTF is he the way to go , and you an fly indoors at home. Lots of online support too. Colin

For what it's worth , those bobbin type rubbers were in use in IC multi racer boats in the 80's ! A Speedo cable type shaft took care of wobble at the shaft end. They made a big difference to the noise ! Very few multi boats these days unfortunately ! Colin

I never thought it would come to this....

Motor stutters near full throttle
Colin Carpenter replied to Richard Hayward 6's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Richard ! Yes a lot of motors are the same . Badge engineering as you say. I have the Quantum in my Wots Wot. Good verticals ! I have an E Max on 5 cells in an Axiome bipe. From Robot birds - can't remember the number but it's larger than the Quantum. Good luck ! Colin -
Motor stutters near full throttle

Richard. That’s really interesting ! That would seem to indicate a motor problem I agree ! What brands have given the problem ! Would the Quantum power your new model ? Colin -

Richard ! I’ve an idea ! Give up !!😂😂😂 Are you able to take this combo t to a fellow modeller using a different radio system and try to set up anew ! Colin
