  2. I think you should look at Gliders in Newark for your props, they have 6x4 3 blade counter clockwise in stock.
  3. Just something that may give us food for thought or a laugh. No profanities please. Diana Riggs book "No turn unstoned". Face a like a mechanics toolbox, battered and greasy
  4. Some of the problem comes down to sloppy coding. When memory was expensive software had to be written more tightly, this led to less bugs as the software was limited by the hardware so testing was more robust. With the advent of cheaper memory software authors have become a little less constrained and the code has, not in all cases, (i will cut them some slack), become more bloated and hence more error prone. Aside from which it consumes memory on your device which you may have better use for.
  5. There Arising Star is a super trainer nd I also have the 40 Roulette which is pleasure to fly. Think they make superior product.
  6. Have you tried Gliders in Newark. The hobbycraft foam board isnt too bad and there is always the graupner vector board which comes in a number of thicknesses which makes it bendable. The one thing i would recommend is a good scalpel and a whetstone. Its cheaper and easier to sharpen your blades, foamboard is one of the best materials for blunting steel!!
  7. It will be a mixture of all those things I suspect. It may also be that once you fly again you may rekindle the flame. I am just cheesed off at not being able too. I suppose we just have to be grateful we have the opportunity. There are many who wont be able to return. Makes you think
  8. Speaking for myself as a carrier I was always a fan of Ark Royal..............doh.I will get my coat ..and mask
  9. Gary, yes the answer in the book is 192
  10. Thanks Dick that's a little easier to digest. The book was written by A. C. Kermode, now deceased. I suspect the title lacks a " ? " . In any event it is interesting.
  11. Dick the answer is 192 as you say but telling me adding x+y still doesnt show how i get 192. Maths and sport arent my best subjects. Can you give me the idiots ++ breakdown.
  12. This is not a model question but is flight related. I purchased the book 'Flight without Formulae' and it is clearly authored to aid people interested in flight. It poses a number of questions to help in understanding flight and flying. One of the questions : an aeroplane has enough fuel to fly for 4 hours at 100mph. If there is no wind how far can it fly out from base and get home again: that is to say what is its radius of action? Now the answer to that question is 200 miles. The following question is: Will the aeroplane in the above question have the same radius of action if there is a steady wind of 20mph. ( assume you are flying into the wind and have it behind you on the way back.) My initial answer was it would be the same as you gain the wind, however on reflection and re reading the question the answer is clearly determined by fuel use. The answer is given in the book but for the life of me I cannot derive the same answer without some convoluted maths. I will provide the answer from the book following wise readers producing an answer with the relevant explanation. I have another question which caused a hugh row on a radio phone in many years ago. I was in absolute tears of laughter.
  13. Hmm difficult. Why not just delete the deemed offensive post, notify the poster and continue. I had a post moderated for using a frequently used swear word for being drunk. Ok not overly happy as it was contained in a lengthy mock of covid, but it was done so I just continue without gripe. Yes humour has changed, whether its funnier or not is for you to decide. It also has its own niches, for example the medical profession, armed services and emergency services all have a type of humour which can be very dark and certainly cause grievous outrage if used outside their respective environment. The poster has exercised his right to have his say and chosen to leave. As for trying to keep the forum open for all kinds of people, you cant, as illustrated by the removal of the post. You can only cater for those who exercise the views within the parameters set by the moderators. To paraphrase an age old question: "who moderates the moderators ?"
  14. Took the plunge Creality CR6. Thanks to those of you who responded. Will do my best to utilise it and hopefully in the future show pics and no doubt problems. Lol
  15. Firstly a healthy 2021 to you. Am considering a 3d printer. The creality series seem to be a good choice but appreciate thoughts from those of you that have 3d printers. All recommendations and reviews welcome.
