  1. If this is the motor Racerstar at Banggood Then it looks like a 20 Amp ESC should be more than adequate.
  2. Looks very nice Dave. How do you insert/ retain the battery, can you post a photo showing the battery compartment? Trying to decide whether to put the battery hatch on the bottom as per the plan or on top for ease of access.
  3. I used the Max-Thrust one but from memory the 4-Max on wasn't much diiferent. The Max-Thrust one suited the motor hole spacing and the firewall holes (naturally).
  4. The motor is a 4-Max 3541 1070Kv. It was a perfect fit with no fuselage modification. I also cut out the steel weights In the nose, flies much better without them.
  5. The performance on the original motor was adequate, I just wanted a bit more oomph. With the new motor it will do a vertical climbing roll from take off. ?
  6. My Riot as supplied drew 28 amps with a 12x6 APC prop on a 3s battery. Following a motor upgrade it draws 38 amps on the same prop so to be on the safe side I replaced the 40 amp esc with a 50 amp one.
  7. Received a full set of replacement fuselage side parts from Sarik, packed in a cardboard box this time so undamaged. Fuselage construction underway.
  8. Just wanted to give fulsome praise to Sarik Hobbies. I ordered a Loaded Dice 30 EP from them some time ago and recently found that the rear fuselage sides didn't match, one was longer than the other. Without hesitation they cut two new sides and posted them to me. Unfortunately they were mangled by the Royal Mail in transit. Sent them some photos and they sent me not just the rear fuselage parts but also the front sections which they had recut and checked to ensure everything matched and fitted. Can't fault them for customer service, will not hesitate in buying from them again.
  9. Received the replacement parts from Sarik on Saturday, unfortunately Royal Mail managed to break both of the replacement fuselage sides in transit. Piecing the broken parts together, they appear to now be the same length but they are both now approx. 3mm too long compared to the plan.
  10. If you want a 6 channel receiver with a built-in gyro try the Lemon stabiliser plus receiver. I have several and they work well with Spektrum transmitters, only£30 too!
  11. That would work if the extra length was between the engine mount and the leading edge but in this case its between the trailing edge and the tail so the fuselage would be bent. Also the tailplane cutouts don't line up.
  12. If I joined the tail together level, the wing mount would be skewed and the wing would not seat correctly.
  13. Just a quick update: Not very much progress recently, the workshop/garage is cold in winter and glue doesn't set! However, I have started making the fuselage. Each side comprises 3 parts, front (top and bottom) and rear. After I had assembled each side I realised that the two sides didn't match. The right side corresponded to the plan but the left side was about 3mm longer and the rear fuselage was at a slightly different angle meaning it wasn't possible to make a square fuselage and the tailplane incidence was wrong. Contacted Sarik who said that it was possible that the rear fuselage sheet had moved during cutting and they would replace the parts. Later they emailed to say that they had recut the parts and the sides still didn't match so they would get their CAD person to sort it out. Just waiting for the outcome. Can't fault Sarik for their customer service though. I wonder how many other builders of this kit have had a problem and then worked around it without letting the supplier know.
  14. The cream, custard and jam colour scheme looks good, it's a trifle Bi-Zarre
  15. Whatever you buy, make sure that compatible chipped cartridges are available, just search online. I use Canon for documents and photographs, I have an A3+ for photos. I use refillable cartridges with auto-reset chips, when the cartridge decides it is empty you just take it out, refill with ink and replace and the chips resets to full. The trouble with OEM ink is the marketing model, printers are sold at close to cost price and the manufacturers make their money by overpricing the ink. Every new generation of printers has a different cartridge/chip, its an evolutionary arms race!
  16. Master Airscrew make 6x4x3 props in both normal and pusher configuration. Did you get the custom made retracts too? Edited By Shaun Walsh on 22/01/2021 14:54:07 Edited By Shaun Walsh on 22/01/2021 14:55:55
  17. Posted by Simon Chaddock on 20/01/2021 14:59:51: Rich What appears to be ideal for you would be a Spektrum DX6i. It was a very popular radio in its time, a sort of beginners computer radio with a 10 model memory but with a somewhat limited range of 'clever' features. I would not recommend buying a second hand DX6i (although I did from ebay with no problem!) Hobby King do sell the Spektrum compatible Orange TX6i which has virtually the same specification but now with 20 model memories.. Just a thought. A good used DX6i is a good suggestion but make sure to get it checked over by a Spektrum service agent before flying anything with it.
  18. Posted by kc on 20/01/2021 13:09:40: The Root729 website is here for anyone who does not know of this supplier of Lemon Rx. Having bought a Lemon Rx I find it to be tiny and uncased, so what have others done - have you encased it in any way? I must say the only slightly dearer but genuine Spektrum AR410 seems a better buy than Lemon if one only needs 4 channels. I use lemon 6 channel receivers in gliders as they are smaller than 6 channel Spektrum receivers and I use lemon 7 channel stabilised receivers as they work well and are much cheaper than the spektrum equivalent.

Edited By Basil on 18/01/2021 13:30:26 Yep, agreed, I didn't realise that Lemon did a version with self levelling. If it's a smaller model the gyros do make them fly like a larger model, by compensating for wind turbulence causing the model to move (un-commanded movement), the other thing I find they are quite good at is taming the rudder on take off, helping if the model is prone to ground looping. I have a lemon stabilised receiver in a Hobbyking Slowpoke, if stabilisation is turned off it ground loops badly when you try to take off, turn it on and it tracks straight ahead
  21. Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 18/01/2021 12:17:49: When you say inclined to pitch, do you mean it is sensitive in pitch? what model is it? Getting back to flight controllers, are you looking for a simple unit that just dampen downs any un-commanded movement or are you looking for one that has self levelling ability etc. What receiver are you intending to use one with a serial output (SXRL) or just using connections from each servo output? There's a lot of choice and the more advanced ones often require hooking up to a computer to get the best out of them. With Spektrum I would have thought that a Spektrum ASX type receiver would be the obvious choice, but if you just want s simple dampening one then the Orange/Lemon type with built in DSM2/DSMX receiver are worth looking at. The Lemon Stabiliser Plus receiver has both damping and self levelling abilities.
  22. I know that you said that you didn't want an integrated gyro but I use these in several models. Lemon stabiliser plus receiver You can turn them off or on from the transmitter, they have two stabilisation modes and the failsafe can be set to level the model and cut the throttle in case of signal loss. The degree of stabilisation can be adjusted for each surface individually. They work very well and are £30
