  1. Futaba Challenger with Frsky DHT module. ( Now been superseded with the XHT module which will do both D8 / D16 protocols. ) https://www.t9hobbysport.com/rc-gear/frsky-tx-modules Made so it just plugs in allowing the original 35Mhz board to be easily re-instated if required.
  2. Started my apprenticeship at WGC in 1962 (ICI training school on Tewin road) at about Β£4 / wk. Those were the days when a farthing was still legal tender. Regarding suction a vacuum cleaner can be used for pulling on a "vac bag". No idea by how much though. I did once use an old fridge compressor as a vacuum pump but gone to the dump a long time ago.
  3. I have a Fbook friend asking me, again, to be his friend. I presumed that he had lost the contact? Next thing I received a PM asking how I was doing and I asked him how he is? etc. After answering him I got another message:- Him - Am doing pretty good as well hear to nothing to complain life is Good. i saw your name on PCH list,Have you heard about them? Me -Not heard of them. Him - Publish Clearing House SWEEPSTAKES (PCH) is giving to all People to take care of kids ,buy houses, retired, unemployment pay rents to Maintain the standard of living did you hear from them yet? Me - No! Probably a scam. Him - They compensate me with some cash when i applied for it and it's not refundable,I think you should contact the agent that is in charge. so you could claim yours. Did you no how to apply for the program? Now definitely a scam. Blocked. I rang him later and he confirmed he had shut his Facebook after other people had warned him. Turns out his page has been hacked.
  4. Just another thought - don't have the TX and Rx too close together when binding.
  5. Can you tell us which protocol the X4R and the X6R are working on ? It should show in "settings". I presume it is D16 ? Some where on the TX should be an EU/LBT sticker. Can you confirm this? It should then be a choice of 2 firmware's for the receiver - V1 or V2 Once we have worked out what the TX protocol is we can probably advise which firmware to download and install. (I also assume you have D8 protocol as you have Delta 8, V8R7-II receivers. ?)
  6. Received the activation code from T9, ran the Lua script, and now up and running. Just need to do a range check now - when the weather plays ball. πŸ™„ Thank you very much Mike for the help.
  7. Perhaps Kayfast have what you want :- https://www.kayfast.co.uk/category/1/all-products and I have used eBay in the past.
  8. Don't remember if it's the same guy who, back in the 70's, flew with us on Parlick. Very similar model but he had one with a sliding aileron servo linked mechanically to a standard elevator. So as the elevator went up the ailerons went down. (Flaperons) ?? I have my own version of Kwicksilver but no sliding servo.
  9. Flashed my R-XSR with the 'UNI' firmware and bound it. Ran the Lua script (UNI_Activate.lua) and got the code. Just waiting for a reply from T9 now. Strange thing was when flashing the R-XSR it showed a green LED which it was interspersed with the odd red flash every now and again. Previously when I have flashed other receivers I haven't noticed any red LED just a constant green. I presume it must have worked as I got the 12 digit receiver code.
  10. Mike, thank you very much for the reply. Also thankyou for the pointer to the instruction PDF. Downloaded and will ingest today. Shame about the XM+ but I get swamping easily within 4 feet so virtually useless for hand launching (slope soarer's and park fly's.) Regards John
  11. Hi Mike' Will there be any chance of 'UNI' for the XM+ ? I have one but it is very prone to swamping which is a big problem when hand launching. I also have an R-XSR which I would like to change to the 'UNI' firmware but I don't really understand how the 'code' system works. I understand somehow that an individual reference is produced, after flashing, which is sent to Aloft or T9 who gives out a code to enable the Rx. I've gone through all the Aloft, RCGoups etc' posts but nothing explains the actual process. (that I can find.) Aloft said they would do a short video but, unfortunately, that doesn't seem to have materialised. No problem in the initial flashing process, just the follow-up. Any chance of a 'blow by blow' beginners guide please ? Best regards and thanks. John.
  12. If you want some real grip then really roughen the surfaces. You mention torque rods so perhaps grind notches in the wire or similar.
  13. Now I have 2 more bank accounts that I didn't know I had ? Halifax and Lloyds. Also had an Email from "popeye @ talktalk.net" saying I have up to 10th October to refresh my Email account to keep my account active. 17th now and still active.πŸ€”
  14. The plan shows the 1/16" ply main spar and this should set the angle. If you want, just project the angle of the spar on a large piece of paper to give the dihedral dimension. https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=2081 This KK 66" plan says 3.5" dihedral but I don't know if that is under one or each tip? My 66" Quaker is 4" under each tip so 8" overall.
  15. Sort of makes me wonder about the coincidence ?
  16. 2 emails this morning from Lloyds Bank asking me to update my personal details. Didn't know I had a Lloyds account .πŸ₯΄
  17. I rest my flight box across the bracing on the bottom of my work stand. The box contains a 12v battery and fuel bottle etc. This adds enough weight to stabilise the stand. My stand is not a B&D but does the job. And yes without the extra weight the stand does attempt to move on engine full power so be careful.
  18. Thank you. That's good to know. I also still have an FF7 on the shelf but much preferred the Challenger to use. Cheers.
  19. Nice work Leccyflyer. I converted my Futaba Challenger to 2.4 a couple or so years back. Just as a project and for fun. What I do wonder is it legal to use as it is not EU/LBT protocol (D8) ? The Challenger, same as the MacGregor, is obviously pre-2015 which I understand is when LBT was introduced.
  20. Something in the the little grey cells think Irvine used AF threads. πŸ™„ Possibly depends when nad who it was made by. (OS) ? So a #5 - 44UNF - major dia' = 3.175 mm. https://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/unified-fine-thread.html Again the grey cells think original Irvines were based on an USA engine (K&B) ????? Possibly complete B.S. πŸ₯΄
  21. Good news and hope that good health has returned. Model already in the car in anticipation. "Factor 50" and sunglasses included. 😎 Thank you David. Hope to meet on Sunday. John
  22. I presume this is an ABC engine so it will be very tight to turn over at first. Some so tight that you think it's faulty.πŸ™„ ABC engines don't have rings and rely on the piston / cylinder fit for operation. The one thing you must not do is run it rich during the run in period as this could damage the engine. A long read but explains why :- https://adriansmodelaeroengines.com/catalog/main.php?cat_id=99
  23. Wish him well please David. I know setting up the field takes time and effort and appreciate all that's involved. We have booked so will be down in the area anyway. John.
