  1. Is mowing the grass not classed as exercise. ?
  2. Just a thought - the chargers that plug into the cigarette socket may not be connected to the battery ? The ones in our car do not work unless the engine is running. Not sure if that means there is no connection to the battery if the ignition isn't on? I charge my motorbike through the socket with no problems.
  3. Some instruction on Utube :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIQ74qp5BaY
  4. Nice shot Ron. Gives the impression of flying alongside a steam train on it's journey.
  5. I don't have a Spectrum but all my receivers only need to be bound once to the transmitter. Only need rebinding if used with a different Tx or to alter the "failsafe".
  6. Posted by Gary Manuel on 27/02/2020 07:49:40: Thanks Mike. That's what I was hoping. John. I needed confirmation that the transmitter was on reduced power output whilst actually doing the test, otherwise there's no point doing it. I'll walk away from and around the model whilst wiggling the sticks like I normally do, now that I know the power is reduced. The one main reason for walking with the Rx is that if it doesn't have telemetry that you won't get RSSI readings on the Tx. But as the LED changes you will get positive indication of signal.loss. Yes it's a lot more practical if you reduce the Tx power.
  7. I presume the receivers have an indicator LED. Place Tx in an appropriate position and then walk with receivers until receiver LED alters (starts flashing or whatever?) indicating loss of signal.
  8. As Bob says above but if you want the money to go into your bank then you need to sign in to your PP account and transfer it over. That's what i have to do with my PP account. PayPal does not do it automatically.   Edited By John Wagg on 17/02/2020 16:00:08
  9. Very thin ply has always been comparatively expensive. I make sure it is used sparingly and stored properly. Easy to cut with a pair of good scissors. Edited By John Wagg on 05/02/2020 11:45:31
  10. Posted by kevin b on 05/02/2020 11:31:18: Ebay has a few listed and not very expensive. Search "Plans Handbook". Then go into advanced and select exact words, exact order. Thank's for that. Have done and quite a few to choose from. Cheers.
  11. Thank you for the replies but it is the actual books that I am after. What I have just come across is a downloadable PDF version of old catalogues. https://rclibrary.co.uk/browse/by_series.asp?series=MAP%20Plans%20Service%20Handbook Click on any of the books and that brings up another page. Scroll down to Download file details: and click on "download page". That will bring up the catalogue which can be perused or can be downloaded to save to file. Cheers.
  12. Returning to RC after a long break and I must have disposed of my couple of plan books at some time. Is it still possible to get new ones and if so where from? Other option, are they available on the internet.? Cheers
  13. I made my last two screens using the plastic from 3 litre "cola" style bottles. (other makes are available ) Nice and clear and fairly rigid.
  14. " The warp is one of the trailing edge rising upwards toward the tip from about 1/3 the 1/2 span of the wing starting from the root. " That sounds fine and possibly was how it was meant to be built in the first place. Especially if both wings have the same equal washout. Done this on a few planes overtime. Helps with countering "tip stalling" Try to keep both wings the same when covering.

  16. A couple of queries - Any thoughts on running a 4 stroke inverted ? Obviously any bypass fuel/oil will collect in the piston body. There is the usual vent but that will be at a high point when inverted. The SC30FS has never been run. NOS ? Done a few shortish runs on it but compression seems low when turned over by hand. Does anyone know if this normal. It Starts on the electric starter easily, runs sweetly and ticks over nicely. http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Engine%20Tests/SC%2030%20FS.html Cheers.
  17. Hi all, Got my question answered thank you. Enjoyed the other information and discussions regarding "oils". Still waiting for the Laser fuel to be delivered as have to buy it on-line theses days. No local shops now. Will finish using up the rest of my castor fuel in the 2 strokes but will use the Laser in my 4 strokes. Cheers, Hopefully see some of you at Old Warden etc. Edited By John Wagg on 19/01/2020 13:01:26
  18. Thank's all for the input. I will still use up my oldish fuel but will be using the Laser on my 4 strokes to start with. Hopefully the weather will improve soon so I can quickly get rid of the caster stuff.
  19. I have always used caster based fuels. Both 2 stroke and 4. Just ordered some Laser 5% which is synthetic. Now on full size engines it was considered not good to change oil types (mineral to synthetic). Is there any problems switching between lube' oils on my engines?
  20. Thanks to all for the inputs. Not sure the thread drift into petrol stations is of much use but of interest anyway. Thank you Peter for the advice about electric motors and taken that on-board. I still prefer I.C. motors (for models) but do see the advantages of electrics and I'm dabbling a bit into them. Jon, It's nearly 28 years since I last ran my Laser 62 and intend using it again this year. I have overhauled it recently and had it running for a few minutes. The thought of running it weak is the main reason for a considering RPM readings as Peter describes above. but I would presume that practice will make perfect. LoL. John P.S. My hearing hearing is good - just out of practice for tuning. PPS Got an SC30FS for Christmas. Edited By John Wagg on 05/01/2020 11:09:56
  21. Thank you for the inputs. I have looked at tacho's but I have my phone on me always so it would do two jobs at once. Really only for use with 4 stroke engines as I find it somewhat difficult to determine top revs. (a 2 stroke is no problem). Possibly a proper tacho' would be really useful for electric motors in comparing different props ? Cheers.
  22. Does anyone use or know of a mobile phone App that will read RPM reasonably correctly? I see there are some in the APP store and have down loaded one. Not had chance to try it out yet but are they any good.? I want to use it on my IC motors/props and normally outside. Cheers.
  23. Remember to show them how to use the brakes.
  24. Does the width ratio of the people on the film look normal or do they seem dumpy. What setting have you got the TV on? Ours is set to "automatic" but recently I had to change it when I played an old VHS tape machine on it.
