  1. So was Hitler according to Churchill and look what happened to him.
  2. Yes and Ron said he was piling on the coals in the flight video
  3. Hi Brian, The crash scene is my depron Spitfire, it hit the electric cable at the edge of the field. It flew again just over a week later. This is the post crash photo
  4. Hi Graham, The problem with the Hurricane is mainly the sheeting on the outer wing panel I removed the underside sheeting and took large sections from the top, this has brought the weight down to half of what it was, if I can save some more weight then I will do the same to the rest of the wing as it is undamaged. The flaps and spars are very heavy which is all behind the c of g.
  5. Just as the light nights are close this happens. I've never been happy with this VQ Hurricane it's very heavy 63" span 10.5lb weight originally flew with a 90 fs i converted it to electric. On Saturday after a few nose overs it took off loads of power but way out of trim , got round the first circuit and possibly slowed it up to much as it turned it fell from the sky. If I can loose some weight from the airframe I will rebuild it. I think the sheeting on the wings is oak the outer panel alone weighs a pound .
  6. Flying the Corsair and FW190 Saturday and Sunday, great flying days for the time of year
  7. Hi Ron, As we fiy from grass which is not cut till March, sometimes later if there has been a lot of rain. I made my dolly with 2, 4" wheels at the front and one 2" at the rear to reduce friction, each wheel is independent so no axles to drag in the grass. Up to now it is close on 60 launches with the FW190 and Corsair and no fails , I hope I haven't jinxed it as I'm off flying as soon as the mist clears.
  8. I can guarantee they are good gliders Dave.
  9. Hi Chris, The FW190 will roll along as long as I don't give up elevator, when it reaches the end of the strip I give a touch of up and it lifts off the dolly then rolls off the strip leaving it clear for landing. I do this when I fly alone. The Corsair is lifting off the dolly in a few feet on it's own even on low throttle, I need more practice on take off it is well overpowered.
  10. Hi Chris, It is the same dolly with outriggers to support the Corsair wing at the bend. In its modified form the FW190 still flys off it without any adjustments, I had a good days flying on Friday with both models. The wing on mine fits right up to the uprights , the reason they are in that position is to hold the fuselage central, they are just friction held on with a screw and will give in order to lessen damage if it went to one side. The hair curlers as I said before were to stop the protruding undercarriage wire damaging the wing, I did glue foam pads on but the elapore foam did not stick very well, the curlers however have remained on for over 40 take offs. I am using a Racestar 4250 800kv motor with a 12x6 Apc electric prop a 4s 3600 battery and no ballast The mod. for the Corsair is of no benefit to the FW190, I added the extra support in a way that it could be removed if necessary if the FW190 would not take off from it.
  11. Hi toto, have you tried one of the esc's that is not working in another model or set up. Just an outside chance it may work in another setting. I had one that I thought was u/s as it cut out on the model. I tried it in another and it was OK. Never found out why, thought it may have overloaded then cooled down it was a few days later when I tried it as I was about to bin it.
  12. Cowls and canopies made from 7 Tesco 2ltr lemonade bottles 25p each , the rest mainly depron and foamboard.
  13. It lands very well GG 11 flights up to now, unfortunately some of the sheep wander on to the strip and they provide the poop. The bend in the wings keep the fuselage clean so minimum mess
  14. My latest build, a Brian Taylor Corsair, precut parts from Sarik. The plan shows fixed undercarriage, twist and turn retracts don't fare very well on our strip so no undercarriage and a dolly launch. Video from a mobile phone. 61" span 580kv 5556 motor 5s 5000 8lb weight ready to fly. VID-20240216-WA0001.mp4
  15. Not a bad day up in the North East, wind a little blustery but the Warbirds FW190 and the Brian taylor Corsair managed very well had a 4 hour session 9 turned up. The Corsair on one flight with a new 5s 5000 flew just over 9 minutes and had 49% left. Most flights were around 7 mins with over 50% left in the battery. The photos were from a camera video
  16. The come already wrapped in immaculate clean towels which did not stay clean when I dragged them through the mud. No doubt it will be the top topic at the club meeting tonight. The member who first reported them wouldn't touch them and cleared off . Nothing would deter me from going flying
  17. The only good dolly was the take off dolly 😄
  18. Sunny with a strong wind in North West Durham, only one there. Flew my Brian Taylor Corsair but the wond became blustery so after a few flights headed for home. Some fly tipper had dumped two sex dolls and a suitcase at the entrance to the field, which I had to move to get to the gate. I did not realise how heavy they were and could only drag them out of the way. Before anyone says it I don't think they were drag Queens.
