  1. Correction, proxxon ad seen in rcme ( I haven't read that from cover to cover yet either ) mag, doh !
  2. My birthday is in a few months... In the past I have had access to machine shop equipment. I have a lathe ( two actually ) but not a milling machine. I have lots of jobs that would be easy on a milling machine... Bmfa mag advert ( and threads on here ) has relit that fire and the milling jam jar is filling, but slowly. Proxxon milling machines, anyone on here using one and are they any good ? I only need to do light duty stuff, but with steel/cast iron/brass/bronze, as well as Ali. Thanks
  3. Had email saying engine seminar early February... I haven't read bmfa mag from cover to cover yet, but info may be in it too. Hopefully an electric motor seminar and battery technology seminar to come ? Advances in lithium polymer batteries are on the way folks... A good subject for the bmfa mag ?
  4. In New Zealand I think, you have to vote, you don't have to in this country..... Take that the right way, apply what you glean...we won't get fooled again, good song !
  5. Could you post 4 views please, front, left side, back and right side please... Nice pictures of failed rods, for what ever reason. BMW bikes, black museum, s shaped rod... Email saito, see what they say ?
  6. Tempting fate there jon...mishaps tend to run in three's...
  7. Just engines possibly, I am sure you will be able to source a new carb...
  8. Swarf... Had a new magnum gp40 that had glass beads inside and outside...not good. I reported it to the supplier and heard nothing for about a month... I stripped cleaned reassembled and run, I still have that engine which is a bit worn after many gallons of fuel having run thru it, it still runs well. Then, a new engine arrived by post, guess what, that was covered in glass beads also... Deaf ears...or blind eyes. Inform saito to see what they say/think/do...
  9. Wwww, that is quite deep and not good. Get in touch with Saito... If the rod fails ( a very highly probable failure point indeed ) then the engine will be wrecked/scrap. Not good quality control Mr.Saito ! I wonder what Jon from laser reckons, bet he says that scrap.

  11. Things can always be better. We are all different, some needing help more than others. I learn something new every day... Locked down or restricted "freedom" as well as transport costs means I am relatively isolated, so the mag is usefull and informative, for me.
  12. Mmm, better than nothing... Not everyone has a laptop or PC to view bmfa or here for that matter. Using an internet phone ( no Landline or laptop/pc ) with a small screen and sometimes ludicrous predictive text, is a pita. At least the bmfa mag keeps me reasonably ( although two months plus old) up to date. Bmfa emails also keep me informed. The mag shows reasonably informative stuff and what's going on. For a tyro there are bmfa info sheets and booklets online. I print off bmfa stuff I consider needed and keep in my bmfa dedicated file. For modelmaking stuff and techniques, there are several internet sites and forums, this place being one of them. Ditto for help, advise and "look what I'm making, flying, crashed ", this place is good. Long live bmfa and mag. Stay safe out there, safe flying is no accident. Ps, it doesn't need batteries or internet.
  13. There is a UK shop agent for Enya, in Kent ? from memory. They didn't have parts for the 06, that's why I contacted ken in Japan. Can't remember the name of the shop or company....
  14. Yes, ken in Japan, brilliant service and not what I would call expensive, unlike some places. Thanks again KEN, brilliant service.
  15. Hopefully mt brand and formula will remain. I asked Weston's and was told in writing ( email ) that there is no castor in any of their fuels...that was about Feb/march 21
  16. And as a collective, flying our aircraft in s safe manner, no wings coming off or batteries flying out, double checking stuff before flying and staying well in range. All basic stuff really covered under an "A" test. You have a licence to drive the car to the flying field. An A test is a good basic standard to indicate you are a safe flier, on the day of the test at least, just like a car driving test, or mot for that matter. At club level the day safety officer should have the right/obligation to inforce the "rules". A lone flier will be self disciplined, but what about the "rouges/ferrels", who are the problems for us ? How do we or the authorities tackle that problem ? Maybe an identification signal from the plane is the way to go, but there will be ways to side step that... Carrot and stick, very inexpensive caa fees ( free) and kit ( £10 ) and a VERY BIG STICK ! A radar system for the whole country to locate, a local system to identify, no id response from the "target", eurofighter scrambled..... I am not going to mention the "racing car drone"... Safe flying is no accident. Let's keep it that way...
  17. Hi Boy, solar Tex and painted, so was on heavy side. 3 channel, flew great, could fly "backwards" in a breeze, Inverted circuits, good dead stick landings. Flew the pants off it. I may have a picture of it somewhere... I don't need rose tinted specs for that one... Slec, how about kitting it ? Vintage model company, ditto ? Oh how I wish I could find an unstarted kit !
  18. Wanted Cox td09 RC carbs and silencers or parts
  19. Tell me about it... Carlube cheapo easy start smells very ethery... Seen somewhere john dreere easy start has 70 percent ether ? Caster seems difficult to get also, ipn too... Local chemist shops think I am a terrorist...
  20. Could you post a picture of the engine as is please Many many years ago I used some liquid gold fuel in a magnum gp40 which ran well. After a while the engine would get gruby with an orangey brown stain that got worse and worse. This muck was extremely difficult to remove, much more difficult to remove than castor gooo, even baked on castor goooo. This gooo was very similar to the gooo found on a deep fat fryer we were given. But that was over 25 years ago
  21. Wow, also a huge roof, all in white/grey Do solar panels come in those colours ?
  22. The jeep, lrdg ? Neither blokes look like my eldest brother...
  23. We all probably started with an airfix, then control line, then when RC gear became cheap ( affordable , dumping gear on UK market ? ), Moved up My generation are probably the original glue sniffers... Yes lots of untouched static kits in the loft , revel gigantic and the special he111 tug, wonder how much they are worth today ? Anyone .... Need new fuel lift pump for the car, ouch !
  24. I loved my hi boy, first 3 channel model aeroplane I flew. Saved and saved and saved for the whole thing, kit, engine and radio gear. Still have the engine and radio gear in 4 channel wot4 ish shadow. Flew to he pants off them both. Got my "A" with the hiboy 3 channel. Wish I could find a hiboy, an unstarted kit would be wonderfull. I had templates for both hiboy and flyboy, but recon they are lost sadly. Saw a few flyboys at the club back in the day but cannot remember how they flew. I do remember "language" from a largish PAW engined owners one, they could not get the paw to run. Oz do the plan I believe, so over £100 for a kit makes no sense to me. But a hiboy kit does. Whoever buys it, enjoy...
