  1. My mates 28 % 113 inch FW190 has closed loop on the rudder.
  2. On my Spetrum set either a mono or stereo lead works, when using a stereo lead only 2 of the contacts are used.
  3. Yep, by the time the battery goes often the clamp doesn't hold onto the glow plug very well either.
  4. Mines been OK, not done a great deal of running as the model it's in is a bit big and porky for our site. But when I've had it out it's started up fine and runs OK, as others have said it's no powerhouse mine gets just under 7,000 rpm on a 19x8 prop on the ground, pulls my 7.5 kg Privateer around, but performance is way down on my mates circa 6kg Privateer with a Zenoah 38cc (don't ask why my Privateer ended up so heavy!). It is quite clean running though, but the exhaust is very hot so be careful where it exits.
  5. Yep had this pencilled in, but XC weather is saying windspeeds of 20 - 30 mph, so will decide a bit closer to the date.
  6. Interesting that the Spit needs that much power, I've got the 80" span Hurricane running on a 6s setup, around 70 amps at WOT, so around 1500 watts , 2hp, it's not overpowered but is adequate, certainly not as powerful at my Laser 150 in another model.
  7. Use the Saito with an alternative exhaust? Just Engines do a variety of adapters which help.
  8. Yep, my inverted 200V starts off a 2v cyclone cell driving the plugs in series.
  9. The other option is a closed loop control to the tailwheel, with a couple of springs.
  10. You may also have set the LVC to motor.off, so full throttle draws the battery volts below the cut off value, cuts the power, battery recovers, motor restarts and repeat.
  11. If the guy was a BMFA member was this something you could have assisted with? your visit with us 12 months ago was very helpful.
  12. They are made of grp fibre board with balsa on each side to give it a section. The top wing support on the artf is quite floppy so these are needed to secure the wing. Let me know if.you need to know the thickness.
  13. OK re the radio gear, the Digifleet Rx will operate off any 35 mhz set you'll need same channel on the tx. Note if you do.decide to.change out the receiver you'll need to replug all the servos as Digifleet used a different wiring order. For the motors a 2S lipo would be fine, we upgraded an old Multiplex Twin Star with two 400 motors and it flies great, the existing ESC will work but doesn't have a setting for lipo low voltage cut off so if you fly too long you could damage the lipo, you can buy cheap alarms that plug into the balance lead if you wish.
  14. Try it and see what the voltage is, on some packs I've got 2 amps causes a large voltage sag.
  15. I'm guessing there could be a resistor on the 2nd red wire underneath the heat shrink. Basically plug in the negative, then use the red lead with resistor to charge up the ESC capacitors avoiding the spark and then.make up the main lead, but this would require an extra connection on the battery. On my 6s setups I use the Jeti antispark connectors with the built in resistors. BTW you model seems.similar to my 82" span MR Hurricane, where I use a separate battery for the Rx, servos and retracts, but thats because my ESC is the Opto type with no BEC
  16. I burnt an airbrake servo out on a glider because the metal pins in the hinge had gone rusty and seized up the hinge. Probably from it getting wet when it rained and I wasn't able ro get it under cover.
  17. As long as your fingers don't get burnt making any adjustments 😉
  18. It's going to depend in some respects on the size of the model and ESC BEC, on several foamy models inc high power EDFs the ESC BEC powers everything, the receivers I am using monitor the receiver voltage and to.date they have all worked fine. Many ESCs have switched BECs rated at 5amps, more that a 4cell AA high capacity pack could deliver.
  19. Although Halfords cans maybe fine, if you go to your local automotive paint shop they will make up spray cans to your required colour for quite reasonable prices. BTW I've also.used the Chroma spray cans and they are fine too.
  20. My 150 is side mounted and runs great. Clubmate has a 155 side mounted in an Acrowot XL and that runs great as well.
  21. The rx I was using had one satellite, as it works with my Dx6i, I've given my club mate an old DSM2 AR6200 as a swap.
  22. I like how they've got the defib right next to the charging station, maybe a risk assessment recommendation 😉
  23. But if you've passed the CAA test you'll know where you are allowed to fly without further training etc. But as the party was also driving without insurance I don't think he's one who abides by the laws.
  24. Sort of like the old british bike carb "ticklers" which allowed some raw fuel into the air intake to richen the mixture for cold starting. Normal starting procedure for a.Walboro carb'd petrol engine is to.apply full choke and flick or.apply starter until engine fires, then choke off and restart, without any means to richen the mixture you'll struggle to start it, so you'll either need a choke, the priming device or prime using an external source.
  25. Well this is weird, it seems like the AR8010T doesn't like the JR DSX9/Spektrum Air Module, it seems to bind but then not respond to the Tx, but will failsafe when the Tx is switched off. An AR620 binds and works great with JR tx and the AR 8010T works fine with my old DSM2 Dx6i.
