  1. If it doesn't have to be too high a power then a Laptop power supply may also do the job. I recently cut the end off one and soldered on an XT60 connector and it now powers an old ProPeak programmable charger which can handle Nimhs, Nicds, Pb and Li-ion. I think the one I have is rated at 14v and 5 amps.
  2. David lots of YouTube videos on how to do this, here's one o
  3. Our control line expert said it also.stops the pilot from "whipping" gaining a bit more speed.
  4. Yep, at our club we have recently seen some 6s lipo models converted to IC.
  5. Sometimes it is not radio interference but the vibration which at certain frequences can cause the gyros to move the servos to try and compensate for the vibration. There area few gyro systems on the market that have the option to filter out certain vibration frequencies, I know the Multiplex Wingstabi units have this feature, I think the Powerbox and Jeti assist receivers also have this too.
  6. Mmm, just bound it to my DSM 2 Dx6i, took a little while but it works. Maybe need to keep the JR tx in bind mode longer.
  7. Helping a friend out, he has a JR DSX9 with the Spektrum DSM2 air module, we seem to be able to bind the receiver to the module but then there is no.response to.stick movement. Bound it to a new 6 channel DSMx rx and no problems, so tx and module are fine. Is there an issue binding telemetry receivers to DSM2? Any suggestions.
  8. Idealy on landing what you should be doing is using elevator to control speed and throttle to control the rate of descent. but different fields need their own technique, at ours landing in one direction requires flying the downward leg over some trees and then quickly dropping on the strip, the other direction can have a shallower approach, just make sure you clear the hedge 🙄
  9. During Covid, shipping was all messed up and container shipping rates went through the roof, they have come down, but still above pre-pandemic rates, https://www.drewry.co.uk/supply-chain-advisors/supply-chain-expertise/world-container-index-assessed-by-drewry
  10. Used to have one member who paid by cheque, a real pain as all the local banks have closed.down. But he's now gone BACS, so everybody pays via BACS, so much easier.
  11. It could also be the motors in your retracts have a higher starting (inrush) current than the JP ones or the mechanical end lock has more resistance.
  12. On a glider it's normal to.control the airbrakes/spoilers/crow via the "throttle" stick. Check your radio in glider mode it may have an option to assign spoiler control to the stick. Looks a very nice site.
  13. Not strictly true, all brushless motors produce back emf which is what the esc uses to apply the power "pulses" at the correct moment. You can get sensors that monitor this and provide a motor rpm reading. My Unisens E sensors have this ability. Also some.helicopter ESCs have a governor mode, where the ESC senses the motor speed and adjust the power to maintain a constant motor (and main rotor speed) as the rotor blade angle, referred to as collective, is changed. But as regards a twin fixed wing I've not found the need to adjust the ESC on each motor, the only thing I've done.is add a rudder throttle mix on my Catalina for better water handling.
  14. Mine is only about 20 years old, it has Digifleet servos in it (re-plugged for current receivers)
  15. The servo.speed would suggest that the gearing is the same, so it's maybe the motor KV or motor control electronics that are changed. BTW Hitec do give the performance of the D85MG at 4.8, 6.0 and 7.4v https://www.hiteccs.com/actuators/product-details/D85MG
  16. If the elevator isn't damaged and just ripped off along the hinge line you can reattach it with UHU Por adhesive. Put a head down each piece allow to go tacky and then push them together and you get a flexible hinge..
  17. +1 for slope soaring, a few years back, but my son came on leaps and bounds when he started flying a Wildthing on the slope, virtually unbreakable, so when he first planted it and I just picked it up checked it over and threw it off again. Still available from Balsa Cabin
  18. I have similar on my 6s MR Hurricane, radio battery , 5 cell nimh in my case, lasts many flights.
  19. Agree with Jon, also you need some structure to the learning, I usually aim to have the student comfortable with flying figure 8s and circuits at a constant height (and putting the model where they want it to be), then move onto flying approaches and go arounds, once confident on that move on to take offs and then landings. While learning solo can be done, I've often found that students often need/appreciate some guidance as to model positioning, especially on the landing circuit. One of our members who joined a few years ago, was self taught, he and his friend used to fly on a common with long grass, his landings were initially where ever the model wanted to land/arrive, took a bit of assistance and guidance to judge the approach so he was doing smooth landings on the strip at our site.
  20. Yep, but page 20 of the manual allows you to set up the master tx to either Programable Instructor or Pilot Link, if using the former then the model settings need to be installed on the student tx, the later needs no settings on the student tx.
  21. I think Spektrum give you both options, from what I recall you specify this on the master tx when you are setting up the buddy function.
