Seems like you've more experience with these than me - I just took the cal in flight warning literally and didn't think too much about the precurser conditions. Goodness knows what the problem is this time. When I was on the steepest bit of the learning curve, things seem to happen differently every time. That only happened because I wasn't fastidious in following the process. Which is why I wrote it out and used it as a checklist. I haven't set one up for a while, and would be back to square one, I think. One of my clubmates has 20 odd of these SxR receivers and has discovered they're out of production, so is scouring the planet for old stock!!

As I recall, the various lua scripts have appeared in different places in the menu structure over time. My approach was to make notes from the videos and then follow those notes. I found the setup quite complicated as there are quite a few steps, however worth it in the end. There is a test / calibration function that's used in the setup and activated by a switch however if that's inadvertently switched in flight, it'll cause a crash. Attention is drawn to it in at least one of the videos. One I'd dome the test / calibration, I deactivated the switch. I only use the wind compensation mode on a model I favour for windy days. Works a treat. Good luck!

It took me a good while to get an S6R working and I found the youtube tutorials by RCVideoreviews and Painless360 invaluable. My suggestion is that you watch them. They're both good, however think RCVideoreviews helped me more, not knocking Lee (painless360) though. I was using a Radiomaster TX16S on OpenTx however the Taranis on OpenTx is close enough.

Thanks for the update, nothing to apologise for.

Keeping Warm When Winter Flying
Graham Bowers replied to Futura57's topic in All Things Model Flying
Quite some time since I did that, and used to just bear the cold as I was too impoverished to afford better. Fast Forward a few decades and I think I'll get some electric heating. To answer the question. Not this year, however hopefully next. -

Weezle Extreme one piece undersuit (from my scuba diving days) and lined duck boots of no particular brand. Don’t usually need gloves with that setup, but have fingeless fleece ones I converted to with a pair if scissors. Never did find a use for the left-over fleece fingers. -

Brave browser has sorted it for me. Also strips out those annoying Youtube adverts at the beginning and interspaced. Somebody in this form put me on to it. -
Zeee Lipo Batteries ..... what's the opinion ?
Graham Bowers replied to toto's topic in Batteries and Chargers
I don't think I have concerns as such however I do like to keep an eye on individual cell voltages so I can spot potential issues before they arise. So I check the voltage of each cell before charging every battery. I use a common or garden lipo checker and just beep through the cells - takes seconds. And always balance charge when at home. Then check cells again afterwards. Probably OTT, but it's only seconds. If charging at the field, I'll check the individual cell voltages and if they're close (don't ask me to put a number on it) I do a rapid charge. Rapid charge doesn't put any more current in, it just terminates a few percent before 100%. -

Yes. However at the outset and even now we habe no knowledge of the charging scenario. So applying the brakes seemed appropriate. -

Looks balanced so ok. The concern is if there is a failed cell that results in those remaining being over volted. -

Don’t stick it on charge until you’ve posted the individual cell voltages and got an opinion back. -

When using Firefox I'm still getting this popup on every page , despite accepting the adversising cookie and saving preferences. Trouble is, my cookie preferences are not being seen as saved, as every time I go in, that reference is unchecked. However it all works nicely in the brave browser, whch I'm using as I type this. -
My Warbirds Replicas FW190 build.
Graham Bowers replied to Eric Robson's topic in Scale and Semi-Scale kits
Thanks for that. Should we budget for the price of a new hair-do when totting it up ?-) -

The Brave browser on my desktop doesn't seem to be bothered by whatever's wrong, and allowed me to post this - if it works ;-) -

Zeee Lipo Batteries ..... what's the opinion ?

I have some 4S2200 mAh and have been pleased with them. I can't remember the numbers but I'm using them in an EDF application. Clubmates seem happy with them too. -

Like the fan., well done, think I'll emulate 😉 I'm more of a Tinkercad man and have a Prusa. -
All I can add is that not all chargers are equal in their capability to discharge. My Overlander charger can discharge at 10Watts per channel, so an unused 6S4000mAhr would take around 4 hours to 50%. So I made up some dischargers that use two 12V 21Watt bulbs in series. No control system so they need monitoring, however I need to try a lipo alarm which'd work fine, I expect. Plan A is always to fly the batteries I take to the field, but it doeesn't always work out, for one reason or another.

Good point. I watched whilst a Riot was put through the F3A clubman schedule on an ITA event at Buckminster by one of the mentors. However in the context of the second plane question, I doubt many could do that if the Riot was their second plane 😉

Winter is here....who's been flying?
Graham Bowers replied to Chris Walby's topic in Flying Field Reports and Chat
Three at our field too. Clear bright day with low wind so got 8 flights in with my HK Yak55. Cloud came in as forecast, spoiling the light, however out of batteries by then. The field is very wet, so hand launch only, for me. -
Nothing modelling related because I’m too impatient to wait for somebody else’s birthday. These were found under the tree, luckily an artificial one 😉

You do realise the kit is in a box that's in a box?? Thus presenting an opportunity for a little sleight-of-hand! -
