  1. Whilst refilling a L'Occitane soap dispenser I had a thought which might be helpful to jet turbine builders. The new refill is not a pouch but a very lightweight bottle of only 1.3grams. It has a volume of 500ml and is approx 60mm in diameter and 195mm long with a proper screw top. As far as I can tell it seems to be Kerosene proof.
  2. But the logic was that the dowel you hooked on first took the greatest strain and that the leading edge was stronger than the trailing edge, so that when you fitted the band to the rear dowel some tension was released and thus less pressure on the trailing edge (more difficult to explain than show !). Many old vintage designs didn't have sheeting to support the bands.
  3. I would suggest mounting the fan so as to keep th CG in the same place. Particularly if it flew ok. A 70mm brushless fan should be a direct replacement, but with a lot more power !
  4. Welcome back to the lunatic asylum.
  5. Had some good flights on Saturday, but as they say "Not tonight Josephine" (45mph+ winds)!
  6. Hi and welcome to the "madhouse" from North Yorkshire.
  7. Greetings from just North of Harrogate.
  8. As someone "in the know" I can tell you that Radio Active have now relocated to North Yorkshire (God's county). This was fairly recent, so they are still settling in, with manufacturing at an early stage. I don't know if they will be retailing through their old website or not, but their components are still available through many online retailers and model shops. When I find out more I will report back. I didn't realise how many products they actually produce !
  9. I was in a bar many years ago near a couple of very attractive young ladies and I heard one of them said exactly the same to the other. 🙂
  10. Painting solartex is not a problem. However these days many paints have different opacity. Paint pigments are very expensive minerals. Having a "neutral" colour under your top coat has always been a good idea. For instance, if you want a bright yellow finish it is best to have a white undercoat. Also if you decide to paint over a red finish it is always best to give it a coat of black first.
  11. You only have to talk to one of the model shops selling online (if not all of them) to get accurate feedback on shipping fragile models. They get daily complaints about damage and unfortunately they have to take it on the chin, regardless of whether it is a genuine complaint or not. My attitude is simple. if you want it come and collect it. If you don't want to collect it get somebody esle to do so. They can come, inspect and pay for it. Then any problems are not my responsibility.
