Tim Mackey
I guess its no surprise really - nice to hear they are actually in-house products, and this should mean they are top quality.Be interesting to see how any owners rate these. Stephen Grigg
So when a staunch club member asks what motor is fitted I can reply that its the new quiet range OS 46 and he will leave me alone, they dont like electric at our club!!!! Tim Mackey
Good one PS: Could this attitude be in any way related to the noise complaints you are receiving then Stephen?
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Traitors! I suppose it is, as you say, an obvious move for them. And if their electric motors are anything like the standard of their IC they will be a power plant of choice! How do they compare pricewise with other top electric suppliers like Torque? BEB
Stephen Grigg
I dont think so Tim they are all very responsible people, they just see electric as complicated and dangerous. It hasnt helped that one of the glider guys left a Lipo on all night and burnt his house down--totally,lost everything

Richard Wood
These look interesting - good on OS. Some competition for Hacker, Eflite etc. Now we need a range of Lipos from Model Technics
kiwi g
I think os were listening to the beginners who wanted a simple way to judge what size electric for their plane.. maybe they heard it on here. Good on O.S for taking the plunge and following eflites way of selling various size electrics.

She had left a pan of meat on the cooker all night, and the burning /smoke, fumes etc set off her alarm system which alerts the emergency services. Had she had no alarm, and the worst had happened, would we be blaming the cooker? - I think not.

Tim Mackey
Ah you have moved the goalposts Mr BEB - you said "top electric suppliers like Torque"You meant to say top suppliers like "Extreme Flight", or..... other brands like "Torque". Tim Mackey
Incidentally, I have tried the Torque motors, and find them very similar to, and possibly re-badged, Scorpion motors. Both good intermediate quality motors, but not quite in the same price bracket as the OS. I expect OS will remain premium priced, to supposedly reflect the premium brand. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Ah, I shall pass your comments to the electric fliers! As an 'umble oily hand I am merely a conduit of their views! Anyway, I'll rephrase the question. So you see the OS motors as competing alongside the likes of Hacker? (is that better?) BEB
Tim Mackey
Yes But Im sure the brand name will tempt a few of you oily hand brigade who may be converting - just because we all know that OS has an excellent reputation and long history, and is so well known and respected amongst them unlike Hacker or anyone else for that matter. Mention electric motors to most old hand died in the wool IC folk, and they think of graupner speed 400, or maybe the washing machine - mention Hacker and they probably think their PC is under attack
Alan Cantwell
well, with the onslaught of last not a long time chinese motors, and the decline in glow motor sales, i am not surprised, now all we have to do is convince laser to build petrol motors, and inline twins, and we will all be happy! Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
A Laser in-line twin petrol engine - now you're talking! BEB PS You see Tim I'm easily distracted! Foamie Dave
Nice to see another one joining the fold Doesnt OS have a tie in with Futaba, who also have a similar line in brushless motors...all with similar spec / part numbers ( ) Edited By Foamie Dave on 19/08/2011 15:41:

Myron Beaumont
Wow ! The first lekky motor I've personally ever seen with a "proper" prop shaft extention with a washer and a nut . Is that to appeal to us oily hands?

Martin Harris - Moderator
I must protest at all this banter about the merits of electric motors - I consider them to be an essential item for model flying now and for the foreseeable future. I have several on every model I own... ...and my servos would be fairly useless without them! I also find electric motors invaluable on a cold day if an engine fails to respond to my usual reverse flick technique - well done Mr Sullivan. And some of my models even have them bolted to the front with an airscrew attached! P.S. Foamy - I very rarely fly on freezing wet mornings - I tend to wait for the afternoon and hope the rain/sleet/snow has stopped.Edited By Martin Harris on 19/08/2011 23:14:
