Andrew Price 2
Pete, On the lots that got us and fellow formies up in arms, he was a bit like a strip tease artist ( so I understand!!   showing some of his wares with the promise of oodles of goodies later. I saw the Turbie offer and thought he had shown enough detail for proper evaluation to be carried out. I can't summon up the Latin at the mo, but, buyer beware seems to apply!! Caveat emptor, I believe is the phrase you were looking for. And I think it certainly applies in the case of this seller!
Pete B
Oh dear, that box of bits described as a 1/3 Turbie seems to have sold for £67.43........ Can't wait to see the feedback.... Pete

Daithi O Buitigh
It even has the RCM&E copyright notice at the bottom (and the 'presented free' bit) , but with the slight curl in the photo, I'm guessing it's been scanned. Maybe the Ed can have a quiet word about that. It also looks like he's flogging off some of the free plans as well Edited By Daithi O Buitigh on 24/01/2015 01:58:
Dave Hopkin
And a delivery time of 16-17 March from Sheffild (apparently)
WolstonFlyer
Nothing wrong with selling that sheet of dials, it's their property and they can sell it if they wish, even if it was originally free. Copywrite does not prevent you from selling something, if it did there would be no sales of second hand books etc.
bert baker
I looked at the Turbulant auction, for me the only reason to bid on it (not that I did), was that there was a good chance the dummy engine parts were all there, no guarantee but if you are desperately in need ha ho. Also the windscreen looked to be there. Yep naughty in some respects but if you had been after some of the bits that were there it may have been a good buy for someone, perhaps not a good price. but then everyone has the own objectives Edited By bert baker on 24/01/2015 10:16:
leccyflyer
There was a notable set of auctions this week, selling off a bunch of built vintage models, but the seller had separated them into wings and fuselages, and listed them separately. What the heck was that about? **LINK**
John Privett
He probably couldn't work out which wings went with which fuselage! I'm sure we've all seen numpties putting models on ebay with the wings on backwards, upside-down, or even completely the wrong wings - so to the 'man in the street' it's maybe not obvious! brfc7
As above, He's just a dealer of everything and anything so wouldn't know which wing fits which model. Sure most modelers could work it out from the pics and end up with the correct one baz
leccyflyer
Indeed - but how on earth would you bid, on the basis that you may not get the appropriate fuselage to go with the appropriate wings?
John Privett
Agreed leccy... But I don't think our "general dealer in all sorts of tat" would even see that as a problem!
leccyflyer
Apparently not - but looking at the listings, whilst the vintage kits in boxes sold well, there was nary a bid on the completed part models.
bert baker
I think he is being ok, he has put a fair explanation from his end on the listings, Would have to be a view first prior to purchase

WolstonFlyer
The description does say "Aircraft Cockpit Gauges, on a decal sheet" so I would give them some credit, and say they are the original stickers. My copy of the stickers is also a bit curly at the edges so I would not assume that it is a dodgy photocopy! Thanks for the spelling lesson, I am sure you are perfect 100% of the time

Ian Mat
Ok then, what do you think I should do about this one... I just won a Durafly P51 Mustang on Ebay, advertised as collection only from Woking... turns out the guy lives in Lowestoft, which is about 2.5 hours further away! I certainly wouldn't have bid on a collection only item that far afield. Do you think I'm within my rights to ask him to post it (at my expense) or ask for my money back? Either it's up to you, though I'd hesitate to pay the postage above what you would've spent collecting the item, a change of item location after the auction ends is against Ebay rules, I had this with a faulty item and as a result I got a refund and the faulty item, which ended up in the bin, after opening a case in the resolution centre because the seller refused to answer my messages. So talk to the seller 1st and then see where it goes
John Privett
Looks like the seller is an ebay newbie - feedback of only 4 and all those for purchases. Probably this is the first thing he's sold... I'd insist on picking it up from Woking - he must have some connection with Woking, otherwise how else did Woking get specified in the listing? Andy Green
Here's another dodgy looking one. Says New unrun then says just serviced by Just Engines. Surely Laser would have serviced it. Also looks a bit grubby in a couple of the photos and has been mounted. Does that silencer look shot blasted to you? Phil Winks
Just engines do a superb servicing service and looking closely I'd say it has storage marks due to storage in an unheated shed without being kept properly protected from damp, however if its never been used where is the box? You have to ask
