ColdTurkeY_UK
Hi all, Im curious to know if anyone has come across plans for a small electric park flyer that could be built essentially from scratch? I'm looking for a hand-launched model, wingspan under a metre...roughly Ive seen a few ARTF's (Britflight Hustle) but I wondered whether anyone has built their own park flyer or people generally see it as a waste of time and money when you have pretty good quality models straight from the box. Simon B
Why not get one of the West Wings kits? The Pinto is a good one. If you want a scratch build then why not build this month's RCME plan for the Corby Starlet and scale it down?
James B
Its never a waste of time to build your own.
Glenn Ryan
Does it have to be balsa or is foam ok. Edited By Glenn Ryan on 03/08/2012 04:47:

NigelH
RC Groups has a scratchbuilt foamy section which has many, many plans that you can download and print out.
Robin Kearney
Hiya, This little model from Stevens Aero has been tempting me for a little while, it can re-use most of the guts of a Parkzone Ultra Micro model, or you can buy the electronics separately. Available in the UK from Micron Radio Control. r.
Cyclicscooby
Hi CT... I'd avoid the tiny models and go for something, as you said, around the 1m W/S mark.. 400-ish power size.. This will give the advantage of using normal 6-9g servo's, and Rx, etc.. I found an own-designed profile Bipe called the 'Breeze' on RC Groups, then made it a full-bodied model using the original plan as a basic layout... Just guessed most of it, but it flies.. I prefer depron for my own designs, but wood's an option too, but probably needs a bit more forward thinking, whereas foam can be added and removed at a whim... HTH's Luv Chrisie.. xx
Fun Flyer
You could try this I wish someone would, I don't have the time for another project.
Alan Randall
You can have great fun with depron without any great outlay.
TinPot Pilot
How about this, it is only single chanel but could be easily converted to electric. There are thousands of free plans on this site and I do remember seeing some specifically for electric but you will have lots of fun hunting for yourself ! ColdTurkeY_UK
Thanks for the responses guys. I've never worked with foam before, only balsa. Is it particularly difficult to get on with? I did like some of the plans on the rcgroups forums, Im liking the idea of perhaps a low wing, no undercarriage 3-4 channel job.
fly boy3
Have you ever heard of Pipe Laggers. Concorde Speedbird
What about this? A little different, the plans are FREE to down load, great fun and a scratch build! You could build it with depron, balsa with a bit of knowledge. It would be great fun as well! Speedbird Concorde one, cleared for take off! There are many more on that site as well! Reno Racer
Some great downloadable plans here Keith Sparks Cartoon Jets are nice and use cheap components. parkflyer plastics stock the canopy and ABS nose. Here's a taster, the cartoon F86 Sabre ( a bit different from all those flat wing Edge, Extra, Yaks etc)
