Airshow pictures that you're proud of

I'd definitely say moving to a SLR marked a change in the quality of shots I was getting. As for the Nikon/Canon debate its a religious war like so many other things I went to a shop before I bought my first SLR and handled a few, I bought the one which felt nicest. I've always figured in given price bracket the difference between the two in terms of features is either negligable or swings in favour of one and then with the next round of updates it swings back t'other way.

As for lenses, I've found 200mm isn't really long enough to get close flying shots, although with some of the higher mega pixel counts you can crop in tightly without loosing quality thereby faking more zoom than you have optically. If you can afford a 300mm then I'd say that is the way to go.

Worth remembering you can rent exotic lenses for not much money, for Farnborough I rented a 300mm F2.8 lens and a 1.7 teleconver for about 80 quid for the entire weekend. That was some pretty high end glass for not a long of cash. Normally lens rental requires a hefty deposit, but this is normally handled by way of a credit card reservation so you havn't actually paid anything until you return it broken

I took 400+ at Duxford this year in September.

I went on Sunday and took 1137! crook I think I got a bit carried away with the 3.7 shots/sec "continuous shooting" feature - it was the first show in years I've taken an SLR camera to, I normally shoot video...

Once I've had a chance to sort through them (may take a while!) I'll post some here.

I particularly like Robin's shot of the "stack" of 4 Red Arrows Hawks.

CS.

That was a monumental cockup.

The one I put up was the last flight to R.A.F. Shawbury, before being dismanteled to go to the Muesem at Cosford.

I was getting a Hunter out of there when a Tanoy message came over, saying that last official flight of a Victor was just about to happen.

Here are some photos taken on Fuji 5600 Sureshot. Some are from Riat, Duxford and Farnborough airshows. I was using the camera to it's maximum ability and am planning on moving up to a Digital SLR.
