Precedent Stampe 1/4 Scale

I’ve been looking at the various cowls I have to hand

whist not wanting a long scale debate as for me it just covers up the engine I’m wondering where a all the variants come from and who produces them,

It’s quite possible that some or all aren’t actual Stampe ones,

Perhaps  a Moth Or a Chipmunk I care not

I know Carbon copy did one in glass cloth

Errrrmmmm

Dare I say it,

A Zenoah G38 on a reduction drive

my Big Moth has same setup but is the variant for the moth

The Dawn patrol and many others use the G38 and reduction drive, My first Pup kit had the firewall machine cut to take the G38 and reduction drive

The Practical Scale moth Advert always said you would regret not fitting the G38 and reduction,But they did fit a 60cc four-stroke later on, I have one to fit as I think the prop on the Moth is to big for the plane but want need to scratch the itch

plus I need to cut a large hole in the firewall to take the four stroke

I’ve been lazy for a while now of doing stuff

I was going to fit the Laser 180 into one of my Stampe’s but just can’t be bothered with the fuel tank issue, it would be easier to modify a new kit build, but I still Would prefer to go petrol,

Dan’s in the proses of getting one airworthy with a Saito 40cc four-stroke,

I’m half tempted to do the same but did happen to notice the OS 40 petrol four-stroke is slightly cheaper but may be a bit lower on performance of the Saito

My experience of Saito 180 is that it's of average power but vibrates like crazy.  The 150 has slightly less vibration but OS 160s are as smooth as silk and don't spit their silencers off on every other flight!  Oh, and yes, the prop was balanced!

I have no experience of a Saito 40cc petrol but my Saito 100 is smooth as silk.

It might be wise to see if you can check the vibration on a Saito 40 cc running.

Just saying.
