Ton van Munsteren
Have been flying my RBC Hawk 75 and Spitfire Mark 1 and it was time for a new model to go with this size which I like a lot. Having a kit of the LA5-FN and the AT6 Harvard but wanted a Mustang P51 first to build and fly with, so designed my own Mustang because the RBC Mustang had flat sides which is not the shape I like for my Mustang. So here we go and lets build that Mustang. Design ready so the build can start More pics later Ton

Ton van Munsteren
Wooo did not get an notification, was just looking if there was any interest in the Mustang so thanks guys for the compliments. Phil, the program Iam using is Rhinocerus for me its a lot easier to work with than Autocad which I also have, but only use to check the my drawing in dwg or dxf which than can be send to RCM&E. If you like to have a go with the program go to the following link for an evaluation version Rhino5 Ton
Danny Fenton
Oooo another Ton design, can't wait What span is this one? Cheers Danny
Ton van Munsteren
Hi Danny, The wingspan will be about 1100mm, for me just to right size to throw around and have fun with on a Lipo 3S 2200mah pack. Ton
Tim Hooper
Looking good Ton! 1100mm? I'd go for an extra cell....... tim
Ton van Munsteren
Thanks Tim, Yes there could be an extra cell used if you like lots of power. But for me its not needed , Iam flying the Spitfire and Hawk 75 on 3 cells which gives me a scale like performance. They both have flown earlier on a geared speed 600 and a 7 cell nicad pack (good old days of speed 600) they now fly on the Typhoon T29 with static Amps under 20 and even doing nice Cuban 8 which for me is good enough. I like the Lipo 3S 2200mah packs and also use them in the Siebel and Tailwind, the only thing Iam now looking for is a charger to charge 4 pack's at the same time so I don't have to wait between flights . Concorde Speedbird
Nice, I suppose it is like a Funfighter one but a Ton design! It will fly brilliantly! CS
Edwin van der Maat
Hi Ton, very nice. Small e-flite retracts? Best regards, Edwin
Ton van Munsteren
CS, Yes its a little like a Funfighter but than for e-flight and no flat fuselage sites Edwin, No not for me I want to keep it as simple as possible , but you could instal a set of retracts because you will fly the mustang from tarmac. Concorde Speedbird
My Dad had a Funfighter Mustang, it was brilliant! On an Enya 20 (I think) it apparently went like a ballistic missile on full throttle! Great little planes, I am sure your one will be superb too! CS (Have a supersonic Christmas!) Ton van Munsteren
CS, Don't know if the kits are still there , yes those Funfighters are great with a 20 or even 25 2T. Never had one myself but have learned more about handlaunch from seeing the Funfighter type models flip on launch. With those high power motors at full rev on handlauch the tork was so high that those models flipped when the launch was not fast enough. A good thing for me learning not to launch my Spitfire and Hawk at more than 3/4 power or even less. Ton
Concorde Speedbird
Happily they are still around, here. Lovely little things! CS (Have a supersonic christmas!)

Danny Fenton
lovely work Ton, my sort of model construction lots of bending and planking. much preferred to carving from block. should come out very light and strong. bouncebounce crunch
I just paid 20 aussie dollars for 3 sheets of balsa 2mm thick medium IT IS GETTING EXPENSIVE down here.
Johnny Kirkham
Taking shape and looking good now Ton. What program did you draw it up on??
Ton van Munsteren
Danny, Yes thats the fun for me designing the models as a builders model, not a carving model. bbc, Sound expensive have no idea what the aussie dollar is in compare to the Dutch Euro. John, The program Iam using is called Rhinocerus. Ton
Lindsay Todd
Very impressive Ton, I do like the way you go about your construction, it all looks so well planned out. People forget even when you use cad you make mistakes, things don't always quite work as you thought but yours always look so precise.
