Shaun Marshall
hi all ive bought what i was led to beleive is a flair se5a 2nd hand however upon looking on the flair website i can see their some differances on the1 i have and wondered if anyone can shed any light. the 1 i have dosnt have any interwing struts and no mounts for any so not missing and the wing cabane is made from piano wire and has 2 woodern strips on for elastic bands to attach to hone the upper wing the lower wing is also held on by elastic bands on dowels. looking on the flair website it shows their model having aluminium strip for the upper wing mounts along with interwing struts and the bottom wing held on by wing bolts anybody any ideas is it the way mine has been built or is it not an se5a Edited By Shaun Marshall on 17/02/2014 09:45:
Phil Green
Mines a Flair and it has upper wings bolted to an ali cabane thats integral to the build so not easy to change. Sounds like its something other than Flair, did you particularly want a Flair? Cheers Phil Edited By Phil Green on 17/02/2014 11:34:
Glenn Stratton
A photo of it may help to identify what you have Shaun.

will -0
I would say that's not a Flair product, or at least it;s not built from the kit. What's the wingspan?
reg shaw
I think you may have a DB Scout on your hands. The plan is still available from DB Sport and Scale, link here http://www.dbsportandscale.com/Scout.htm A much better aeroplane too in my opinion. J D 8
I also think it's a DB scout. I have it's bigger brother a Major Mannock, a lovely flyer you just have to remember that it's the rudder not the aileron that's the primary turning control. Shaun Marshall
ok thanks for the info so far ive looked at the db scout but theirs has interwing struts and rigging and both wings appear to have airlons where on mine only bottom wing has airlons and theirs no interwing struts or rigging is it just the way mine has been built or am i missing something as im not sure it would be a shame to try and fly it and trash it so may end up putting it up for sale
Lindsay Todd
Hi Shaun, looks very much like a DB Scout, I had one many years ago, great flyer. The fact that yours has just one wing with ailerons is probably the builders choice, I have seen that done before. The model should have inter wing struts but again quite likely that these were never built. It would not be so difficult to put right and can be turned into a nice model. kc
That's jolly decent service from DB.Perhaps the Mods should change the title of this thread to DB Scout to give recognition to the model.
